Please either un-nerf the sponges by reverting them to actually preventing water flow (or remove the "cook to dry" nonsense), or undo your changes to water physics, because frankly, sponges do practically nothing after all the nerfs - it can easily take 30 sponges to clear a 10x10 room now. And that's not fun, it's tedium.
I do think that sponges should be reverted back to how they were before 1.8.
Just one of the many things that 1.8 ruined.
Even though 1.8 did add some cool things like decorative stone, slime blocks, and banners, I still despise 1.8 for all the things it ruined, especially adventure mode.
oh you mean how sponges were purely decorative, were unobtainable in survival and had no real use in the game besides being a filler block for map makers to retexture? Yeah that was sooooo much better...
I think most players who have been playing that long liked the sponge texture from before 1.8 better, and the smelting sponges to dry them in my opinion is probably the dumbest and feature ever added.
In fact: if you place an empty bucket in the fuel slot of the furnace, you can actually collect a water bucket from it. It's a pretty neat detail.
the logic: as the water evaporates and you place a bucket so the water vapor somehow got trapped inside the bucket and then the water vapor condense into water.
but, why we are talking about this?

Peace~
Remake and extension: Action-packed fantasy adventure fanfic --> It Was a CreepeREMAKE
Entity 42: The Life, The Universe, And, Everything. Maybe even another Entity 42.
I don't know I can kind of see where this is coming from. Sponges are pretty darn rare and they are pretty inconvenient to use. In my experience I never even bother to try and hunt them down because it is easier to just fill an area with Sand and then dig it all up.
I'm still on the fence about this though. Maybe a middle ground can exist.

it's not too dumb...
the logic: you heat up the sponge, and the water evaporates, and it becomes dry!
