Since the introduction of Elitras with fireworks, traveling has become very easy. In the past, if you want to go fast, you have to go through the extremely dangerous nether, with fire ready to burn you down and ghasts exploding you. With the elitra, however, as long as you are in the air (in the overworld), no mobs can touch you. Even skeleton's projectile cannot shoot nearly as high.
This is where the suggestion comes in. By introducing air mobs, elitra still have the advantage of traveling at high speeds (compared to many other traveling methods, like a horse), but can still be damaged/killed. I decided that for these to work, the mobs need to be ranged. Why? Well, melee mobs in the game only hit about 2 blocks away. In the air, this distance is absolutely tiny, and a simple firework boost can avoid the mob completely. To make it fair for players with no flight nor projectiles, these mobs do not attack players below y=80.
I will now move on to some specific mobs.
FROST
Frost is found near the top of the world, at about y=200. Frost chases the player from above, and shoots projectiles. These projectiles only do 1 damage, but are fired at bursts of 12, with recharge time of about 10 seconds (similar to how a blaze shoots). It's health is 8, and takes damage in hotter biomes (like the snow golem). 0-2 ice will be dropped when killed
BAT
You heard me right, bat. The usually forgotten, useless peaceful mob that drops no item and just makes noise. Bats will make a return! Anyways, bat spawns in the night, at lower heights (about y=100). Unlike what I said, this mob is melee. However, it's speed exceeds the normal flight speed, and close to the firework boost speed. Fortunately, they only do 2 damage, but usually, spawns as a pack. The health remains the same, though. It'll now drop coal.
These are my ideas so far. Feedback or more mobs suggestions will be appreciated.
So... bats are reworked into something else, or is this a second kind of bat? If it's the first one, I'd prefer bats to stay unique as an atmosphere mob. The frost is alright.

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.

So you basically suggest mobs which annoy(?) gliders.
and well, the frost, should have high speed or the player will easily outrun and avoid it.
