I know your first thought is most likely like "Whoa, that would make it too dangerous to swim at all!" but think of it like this. Sharks in the game would be a very rare mob, and would swim aimlessly, not being immediately hostile to the player, but eventually attacking if the player either gets too close, or is within their vicinity for too long. They also spawn like night mobs, making their numbers much more numerous at night, and maybe becoming more hostile. They would ignore the player if he/she was in a boat, and maybe yield 1-3 fish if killed. This would both add another source of fish, and encourage players to be more cautious and use boats in the ocean.
So to recap:
[] Rare, aimless mob swimming in any large body of water.
[]Are non-hostile unless you get too close or are close for too long
[]Become more numerous and hostile at night
[]Ignore the player if he/she is in a boat/on land.
[] Would most likley suffocate if on land, and cannot move when in such a position.
No. Sharks are either hostile or should not being able to be added into the game. I don't want them to be like spiders in the sunlight.
In real life, they don't hunt down everything vicously and devour all, but since this is minecraft, I guess they can be stretched a little. They probably could eat sheep aimlessy lost at sea, or the player just because he's the only human left in the world.
Wild Mass Guessing Time:
You were the only person in Minecraft that did not go back into the water after watching Jaws.
Well what I proposed was that they wouldn't either be like spiders , nor would they be completely hostile. They would wander around, and would not attack unless you hang around for too long, get too close, or attack them first. That would make them different from other neutral mobs.

Ideas, suggestions?
