This is probably gonna be taken off because i haven't thought it through (Keep that in mind, (haters gonna hate) don't make deconstructive comments) but still...
How about Mobs, as pets? and i don't mean having a passive mob follow you around, i mean for example, a pigman, attacking a skeleton cause he shot at you.
my idea is that the more intelligent the creature is, the harder it is to impress and rally it, for example a skeleton will need a bit of trade every so often to stay on your side, while a zombie, or warthog (ill explain at the bottom) will take less.
BTW Warthogs are simply wild pigs, thought that seeing as Minecraft is a "Wilderness" game, there should from time to time be aggressive neutral mobs, such as warthogs or bulls, or (OMG EVIL CHICKEN), and i don't know what would replace sheep... maybe... goats?
still, i think this might need to be implemented in order for the "pets" thing to work right... otherwise its going to be either too hard, or too easy to get pets!
(Edit: I thought a bit, and if this does get implemented i hope we will be able to have mini-ghasts (maybe called "ghost" as a minor version of the massive square squid of death?))
Also... a new mob for the sea, instead of sharks could be octopus, that way, you could have an underwater companion to shoot ink at close to sea mobs! (i doubt it'll work that easily though...
intelligence levels: Slimes, Zombies, Chickens, Squid, Cows, Pigs, Sheep, Spider, Creeper, Skeleton, Zombie Pigman, Spider Jockey (As in get enough intelligence scoring on both the spider and skeleton to be able to get the skele to ride), Ghast. each animal should have different values: Cows have armor, pigs have extra health, chickens can fly, sheep are meat shields for arrows, and squids are fast (all in their "wild" version) All the normal mobs are just as they are normally. except for ghasts which cant destroy wood or stronger, and dont cause fire in thier small form. and Pigmen which join the other Pigmen if you attack a different one than your pet. (LOL i just thought: Warthogmen)
Edit 2: Furnished a bit:
Each passive mob will turn into a stronger bigger version of it.
In order to get an "Ally" mob, you have to present it with a refined mineral of that monsters level: passive mobs and zombies require 1-10 coal depending on strength (Chicken = 1, zombie = 10)
Skeletons and spiders both require 10 Iron.
Slimes, Creepers require 10 gold.
Pigman-Zombies require 10 diamond.
Ghasts require 5 lapis lazuli, (though this is almost impossible to do due to the fact that ghasts fly)
As long as the mineral is on the way to you, ground mobs will pick up the mineral. slimes and ghasts are difficult to ally with due to their movement. Ghasts become stronger each time you give them a lapiz lazuli (can break harder materials (as currently they cannot break iron or harder)
in order to create jockeys you need to have both a spider, and a skeleton, and trap them in a two block space, then drop 5 diamond for both of them, they will both pick up the diamonds and then they will combine
animal mobs do not attack you if you don't pay them. ZombiePigman's head towards the nearest portal once their loyalty is gone.
Creepers will instantly explode if their loyalty is broke, whether they are near you or not.
all other mobs turn into their original form and attack you instantly.
you must pay a quarter of the original amount rounded up to keep their loyalty. (does not apply to animals)
Once dead mobs drop a quarter of the total amount of minerals you gave them overall. (animals drop half, chickens drop 1)
(The Following Idea was mentioned by a friend, and is still in progress)
Squids turn into an item form of themselves, which you can then plant in a one by two deep, water source, and then act as defensive turrets which shoot ink at mobs which pass by (rate of fire, slightly slower than ghast) dealing half of the mobs health. this attack cannot kill.
(Squids cost 5 cooked fish or 10 raw fish)
i get it, but what i meant is not "Lovey Dovey Slaves"; but rather a mob which follows you around and helps you because you help it. this doesn't mean that it's permanent.
for example a zombie will not attack another zombie, but will team up with the zombie to kill you. the reason i had pets as the topic name was because it was the easiest way to describe them.
also, you have to remember to give them what originally got them on your side; this adds danger and a need to search for items an materials, because if they don't get what they want they may kill you themselves! also, the more you have on your side = more materials/minerals/items you need to give them. this makes them a dangerous ally.

In general people do not like the idea of mob pets or mob followers due to the fact that most of the ideas made previously weren't thought out well or the threads come off as noobish or annoying.
If there was some incentive to making things follow you around to attack mobs, I would like it.

also: i did say i didnt think this through didn't i?
I think minecraft is already AWESOME... anything that will be added (like the bed) is gonna ruin it...
The bed is like on the edge of annoying.. whats the idea of surviving if you can sleep and pass '12' hours immediatly? stupid bed... although if you can get like a small chicken to do your bidding *MUHAHAHA* then fine..

basically what i meant :wink.gif:
for example, the incentive to this is that you have something to watch your back while digging, but also not to completley get rid of the danger of it.
what's more annoying than having your best friend kill you cause you didn't give it gold (for example for i dunno... as skeleton)?
basically, this is a way to introduce mobs as Allies, not pets. the reason i named it mob "pets" is because it was the best way to describe what i had in mind.
BTW, future warnings to all of you out there, i will completeley ignore posts such as "Your idea is stupid, your dumb" things like that because they aren't constructive: i dont mind you saying you dont like the idea, but don't call me an idiot for it
Btw sorry Kira, for posting the warning with the reply, thanks for the feedback.

What do you mean by search bar? for allied mobs? or in this idea?
Lol you changed your topic. You are very sad, but you made my day.
