Now this isn't one of those "OMG I WANTZ MOB VILLAGEZ!!! I LIEK SPAMZ!!!" sort of topics. This HAS been thought out as of the other few who have too. Now, on to the whole idea shale we? Yes? Good! Here we go!
How I Got the Idea
One day, I was sitting on my computer, reading the Minecraft wiki article about the so-called "Mystery Block" when I thought, "Well maybe it could be found in a new place than Earth, or the boring Nether. Some place, weird." And that ladies, gentlemen, and creepers from around the world is where this topic was born.
How to Access
To access Weirdly Land (most likely going to have a name change), you must build a frame of soul sand the same size as a nether portal and dump a bucket of water into any part of the frame. It MUST be a source block that triggers the portal to be active. You can not just have water flow into the portal frame. If done right, you will see a mix-colored haze in the soul sand portal frame and you are ready! Plus, you know those weird cave sounds? When you are within 2 blocks of the haze, you can more often hear those cave sounds. You can even hear monsters VERY loudly coming from a cave that's right under you!
The Content of Weirdly Land
Blocks:
Weirdwood:
Type: Solid block, natural.
Drops: 100% Weirdwood items.
Tool: Bare hands+
Desc: This weird-but-natural blue wood that comes from the weirdwood tree.
Weirdplanks:
Type: Solid block, natural or you create it.
Drops: 100% Weirdplank items.
Tool: Wooden axe+
Desc: This blue wood can be made from weirdwood or can be found as the building block found on a village building.
This can be used to make the weirdbench and weirdchest.
Bluestone (what is currently called the mystery block):
Type: Solid block, natural.
Drops: %100 Bluestone items.
Tool: Stone pick axe+
Desc: Being renamed from mystery block, this stone is found as the roof and the basement walls and floor and ceiling of a village building. This can be smelted with a weirdfurnace to create 4 Lapis Lazuli blocks. This can also be used to create the weirdfurnace, the magic picture, and the slowfire starter.
Slowfire:
Type: Non-solid Block, natural or you create it.
Drops: Nothing.
Tool: Bare hand+
Desc: This is a blue "fire" that it instead of burns you, it slows you down by 1/4 of the players walk speed, and makes you lose 2 hearts for as long as you are standing in it. You can create this "fire" by placing it with a slowfire starter. To get-rid of the sowing down effect, you must get into water, sadly, Weirdly Land does not have water. Yet again it doesn't have lava ether...
2 new paintings and a new type of painting:
Type: Decoration, natural.
Drops when not a magic picture: 100% painting item
Drops when a magic picture: 100% Magicpainting items.
Tool: Bare hands+
These are the three new paintings you can make:
1.Slowfire Picture:
Desc: A picture of the non-solid block slowfire.
2."Him" Picture:
Desc: A picture of Herobrines face! Wet-my-pants SCARY!!!!
3.Magic Picture:
Desc: When you place this picture, it will open your picture files and you get to import your own picture! You also get to say what the size is going to be. You can only use the numbers 1-4 for how long and wide the picture is. For example: I could have a picture that is a 2x4. 2 block across, 4 blocks tall. A 2x4 picture.
Desc. of the picture items: These paintings can ether be found in the art museum of each village (60%), found in a village house (30%), or found only as the "him" picture inside of a village church (10%), and you have to make the magic painting.
Wonderbench:
Type: Solid block, you create it.
Drops: 100% Wonderbench item.
Tool: Bare hands+
Desc: This is just like the workbench only it can create items using items from the Weirdly Land Realm. The only item a regular workbench can create with Weirdly Land items is the wonderbench. To craft a wonderbench:
Key: =Weirdplanks =Weirdbench
=
Pagedchest:
Type: Solid block, natural or you create it.
Drops: 99% Pagedchest item, 1% two Pagedchest items.
Tool: Bare hands+
Desc: This is just like a normal chest, or IS it??? No, with this magic chest, you can make a quad chest! Four chest together! This can be sort of like a book because it has pages, each single chest is a page, so you don't have to space out your regular chests and take up a few blocks of space! This can be found in village buildings for their own storage. To craft a pagedchest:
Key: = Weirdplanks = Pagedchest
[] = Nothing
[] =
Wonderfurnace:
Type: Solid block, you create it.
Drops: 100% Wonderfurnace
Tool: Wooden Pick axe+
Desc: This furnace is just like a regular furnace only it can smelt bluestone into 4 lapis lazuli blocks and can smelt weirdwood into charcoal. To craft a wonderfurnace:
Key: = Bluestone = Wonderfurnace
[] = Nothing
[] =
Purpleleaves:
Type: Solid block, natural.
Drops: 70% Weirdwood tree saplings, 30% nothing.
Tool: Bare hands+
Desc: The leaves of a weirdwood tree. The leaves are the color purple.
Mobs:
Townsman Pigman:
Mood: Neutral.
Drops: 49% cooked pork, 49% 2 cooked pork, 2% diamond, cyan record item when loses a battle with a mob or a request reward.
Spawns: On Bluestone, on, Weirdplanks, on Purpleleaves, below light level 6, Weirdly Land, all difficulties.
Wears: A purple shirt and a purple and blue striped tie.
HP: 12 Hearts.
Damage: Peaceful: Doesn't attack. Easy: 3 Hearts. Normal: 4 Hearts. Hard: 5 Hearts. Hardcore (if added): Death.
Desc: These blue zombie pigman live in the peaceful little weird homes of Weirdly Land mob villages. They will attack if you try to take apart their house or if you give them the first hit. Fall damage, fire, slowfire, lava, and other mobs attacking it will not cause the blue pigman to target you. Sometimes, these guys will be holding a piece of paper. This means they have a request of an item. If you press R while facing a pigman with a paper, it will bring up a window showing the request. Ex(s):
"I have a request of an item(s). If you could bring me the following item(s), I will reward you.
1.A diamond.
2.A workbench.
3.An apple.
Reward: An iron pick axe and a loaf of bread."
"I have a request of an item(s). If you could bring me the following item(s), I will reward you.
1. A painting.
2. An apple.
Reward: Cyan record and a diamond pick axe."
"I have a request of an item(s). If you could bring me the following item(s), I will reward you.
1. Some string.
2. A book.
3. A brown mushroom.
Reward: An iron sword."
Artist Pigman:
Mood: Neutral unless near a natural painting.
Drops: 25% Painting, 25% Magicpainting, 25% Cooked pork, 25% 2 Cooked pork, cyan record when loses a battle with a mob.
Spawn: Weirdwood, Bluestone, next to any type of painting, light level below 14, Weirdly Land, all difficulties.
Wears: The same things as a Townsman Pigman only with a purple artist cap too.
HP: 12 Hearts.
Damage: Peaceful: Doesn't attack. Easy: 2 1/2 Hearts. Normal: 3 1/2 Hearts. Hard: 4 Hearts. Hardcore (if added):
9 Hearts.
Desc: This master-of-art blue zombie pigman always seems to be holding a picture or a paintbrush. This is the only way to find a paintbrush, but sadly, he won't give it to you. When it comes within 2 blocks of a picture, it will pause, look at the picture, and study the picture for about 15 seconds. It will then resume walking.
Minister Pigman:
Mood: Passive.
Drops: 100% Book.
Spawn: Weirdwood, Bluestone, light level below 4, Weirdly Land, Peaceful only.
Wears: A purple robe.
HP: 10 Hearts.
Damage: It never attacks.
Desc: This blue zombie pigman is a creature of peace and quiet. It always holds a book, to it being a Minecraft bible. Sometimes, it will also hold a piece of paper. This paper contains a riddle of the Minecraft worlds. If you press R while looking at the blue pigman, it will open a window showing the riddle. Ex:
"This mob is a creature of peace. It roams the real world. It drops an object that rhymes with cork. If you defeat this mob, you will be given a stone sword."
The harder the riddle, the better the reward.
Other:
The land of this weird world is made up of mostly floating islands kind of like the Aether suggestion. The Fog is a blueish purple color. It is always dawn in this world, so the light is a bit dark but not as dark as the regular word's night as light level 4, nor is it as bright as day being light level 15. So let's just say the light level is always.......light level 6? That way the town's pigman will spawn. Lapis Lazuli is found 60% of the time while digging a shaft. Diamond is 30%, Iron is 15%, and coal sadly is only 5%. Now you are most likely asking, "Now how the heck are you going to get around the islands?" This world works very strangely. Why? What you have to do is that you need to fill at least 3 requests from Townsman Pigman on the first island you spawn on. Then the minister will give you a piece of paper saying, "You prove worthy of filling out requests from others. You deserve to travel to other floating islands in this land." And the minister will give you a float boat. The float boat can float on ANYTHING. It can float on water, lava, and even air! To control this "boat":
W = Move Forward.
S = Move Backward.
A = Turn Left.
D = Turn Right.
F = Toggle Float Mode.
R = Rise.
L = Fall.
It is recommended that you do NOT toggle off F while floating. Why? Because the Islands float, if you fall off, it acts like the void and you will fall and lose all of your awesome stuff forever. DUN DUN DUUUUUNNNNNN!!!!!!!
The villages, pigman villages are little weirdplank buildinged towns that contain, well, buildings with weirdplanks on them. Each Village has the following:
1. 3-7 Houses.
2. 1 Art Museum.
3. 1 Church.
4. 2-6 Pigman-made mine shafts of dirt and ores.
5. 1-2 Pumpkin patches.
A house has:
1. One front door and no other doors in the house.
2. 4-6 no-glass windows on the front side only.
3. 1-2 Floors.
4. A basement or an attic or both.
5. Each floor has 1-3 pictures.
6. Weirdwood being the floors and walls.
7. Bluestone being the roof or the basement walls and floor or even both.
8. The basement, attic or both have a pagedchest. If just a basement or just an attic, the chest is to it's full size. If Both, there is a half sized pagedchest in the basement, and so will be in the attic. The common items in a natural pagedchest are lapis lazuli dyes, iron ingots, wheat seeds, loafs of bread, LOADS of dirt, and any type of shovel.
9. Redstone torches as lighting.
An art museum has:
1. Walls and floors made of weirdplanks.
2. The roof made of bluestone.
3. 10-35 paintings.
4. 1-3 Randomly sized pagedchests with random colors and numbers of wool dies.
5. A mix of regular and redstone torches.
A church has:
1. Walls and floors made of weirdplanks.
2. The roof made of bluestone.
3. A cross statue in the middle.
4. On the side of the walls having bookshelves and pagedchests holding books or for a church's case, copies of the Minecraft Bible.
And I don't think I need to explain about mine shafts.
Finally, we have the crafting recipe for the slowfire starter and the magic picture:
Hopefully this will be a MUCH more exiting place than the Nether. And if you say something like, "IZ DONT LEIK TIS!!! CWAP ON U RETARD!!" Well then I say, "U NEED AZ PORTAL TO GET THUR RETARD!!" Because you need a portal to get there, YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO THERE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO. So if you a troll who didn't read this part, GET LOST!! :biggrin.gif: And I would like to thank the Minecraft wiki for giving me the idea, the Aether idea for being awesome, myself for coming up with the idea, and all of you people out there who read this for reading this, thinking this is a good idea, and wish YOU came up with it! And so with that said,

When life gives you creepers, say, "Oh no-" *Dies* Oh and your house is on fire.
Not bad ideas, per se...But couldn't you be more creative than tacking "weird" onto everything? xD
Specifically, I very much support the function of "weirdpaintings", pending a less goofy name.
Edit in light of newer posts: The idea of the realm overall isn't bad. The mobs sound interesting (but pigmen are unoriginal). The items/blocks and the rest...Yeah, they need work.
Weirdwood:
Type: Solid block, natural.
Drops: 98% Weirdwood items, 2% diamonds.
Tool: Bare hands+
Desc: This weird-but-natural blue wood that comes from the weirdwood tree.
Any block that can be farmed for diamonds will indeed be farmed for diamonds. From what I'm lead to understand, this is a tree, and trees can be grown. Effectively, this is a slow, but infinte outlet to diamonds. Overpowered, and needs to be fixed. If the rest of your suggestions fall in line with this, then you need to review your suggestion.

1 Diamond + workbench is not worth an iron pick. A loaf of bread heals more for an apple. This quest would not be worth doing.

First of all, what the heck does "stop" mean to you in this post? I agreed with you on the farming for diamonds thing, so I just changed it to 100% weirdwood items. Also for the request examples, THEY ARE JUST EXAMPLES .

When life gives you creepers, say, "Oh no-" *Dies* Oh and your house is on fire.
While its a good idea, and magic paintings are a must, the bluestone seems way too OP'd. And about the quests, your examples are either alot for nothing or nothing for alot, they really need to by something for something.
Thank you for presenting this realm with the name Weirdly Land. That's damn funny!
I stopped reading and started skimming down it. Didn't you say this would not be another I want villages thread and you just suggested that there be a village in this realm? Also I saw the phrase "Minecraft Bible" and that concerns me. Whatever could you have suggested could be described in that way?

What I was trying to say was I'm not one of those trolls that spam that they want mob villages everywhere or something. Also, the book in a church's case would be a bible. It makes sense right?
Plus the next good comment gets a pig on a stick!
EDIT: Haha!! It's a notch on a stick instead! :biggrin.gif:

When life gives you creepers, say, "Oh no-" *Dies* Oh and your house is on fire.
This kind of sounds like something people would make up while having a conversation about minecraft while high on acid.
Everything in the post is unintuitive (which is bad, because it introduces a pointlessly steep learning curve and turns away unfamiliar players. You don't want to have to memorize a whole book full of arbitrary crap in order to accomplish anything, versus just logically applying common sense), unbalancing (diamonds and lapis fountaining out of nowhere = no reason to ever go mining deep ever again), internally inconsistent (you need water to stop the slowness of something, but there is no water in this dimension? um....), and/or unnecessary (why?? Why any of it? it doesn't make me want to go there - I feel like I would probably have a seizure, and it sounds really ugly with all the constant blue. And the aforementioned gameplay problems make THAT not a good reason either)
Sorry, normally I wouldn't be as harsh, but I have to counteract the people saying "this is a good idea, but..." It is not really a good idea, which needs to be said. Trying to be constructive though in each one of my points, by providing more info/examples.

Przerwap, upon looking at some code I had just written: "...Gav... That's not how programming works."
Just to let you know, I banned my face and my brain for coming up with the idea. The only person who approves of this idea now is Chuck Norris. :sad.gif:

Specifically, I very much support the function of "weirdpaintings", pending a less goofy name.
Edit in light of newer posts: The idea of the realm overall isn't bad. The mobs sound interesting (but pigmen are unoriginal). The items/blocks and the rest...Yeah, they need work.
Incompetence is a plague. I am the cure.
For all your wolf suggestion needs, I present the WOLF MEGATHREAD!
Stories: A Miner's Chronicle, The Lost Chronicle [Entries 32-2, 33-1, and 33-2 out!]
I just edited the post. Read it again and you will be happy with it. :smile.gif:

You, shup
oops, sorry for the double post
