Now, I heard whales are coming.(Ahem, wiki.) But notch had not decided key events.
It should be nuetral, considering the fact their big lumbering snails, making it primarily not attack.
And, it should drop blubber, 1-3, on its death. The easiest way to kill a whale is with a harphoon.
It has 17 hp, and its attack would be hitting you with its tail fin. It lumbers close to the surface.
Whales should be at the minimum 8 blocks long. mazimum, 12.
Blubber.
It should heal 3 hearts. Maybe 2 and a half, or 3 and a half.
Harphoon.
It should be craftable like this=

Where the spider represents string.
Whales spawn in decent water, like 6x20 water.
You liek, or you mad?
Putting Blubber in the Furnace by itself will make a fuel source, Whale Oil, which can be used in the furnace or be used for special dyes.
Putting blubber in the crafting bench will allow you to make Muktuk, which is the base of the blubber that you can cook in the furnace to make it edible (since eating cold raw blubber isn't as nourishing as Muktuk).
Perhaps you could also find a whale saddle (in dungeons) similar to the pig saddle? :smile.gif: unless notch plans on making dolphins. also blubber should last longer than coal considering itd be harder to find AND retreive. but not much longer.
Yes, whale meat be cooked for better food source,(Almost wrote male wheat...) should supply a better lasting fuel source, and I just dont know about the saddles....
whale should drop blubber or oil to make lamps
and also harpoons would be cool to kill them with (but kind of pointless if we already have swords, bows)

also would work for a basic spear

Um.
I suggested both. Well, 2/3rds.
The blubber, and harphoon.
And the harphoon would cause more damage to the whale then regular stuff.

Whoops, forgot. Dont want a whale spawning in a 1x1 block of water, do we now?
Having it catch on fire as a fuel source would also render netherrack obselete.
Perhaps having it as a fuel source that lasts as long coal in a furnace?

Blubber is food. Everything else you said is fine.
Yes, you should! That would be awesome to see.
