Ever wonder why flint is the only material you can tip arrows with? Do you want to shoot flaming arrows at those pesky creepers? Well then, read on...
This thread isn't really going to be incredibly detailed at first until I can get some pictures made up...Basically my first idea is obsidian-tipped arrows. Not only would this make arrows more powerful (in some senses, and I'll explain) but it would give obsidian some more uses.
Basically, putting an obsidian block in a crafting bench would yield an obsidian arrow tip. Making obsidian arrows would use the same recipe as the current arrows, except the flint would be replaced with an obsidian arrow tip, and this recipe would yield 4 obsidian arrows.
Obsidian arrows would have advantages and disadvantages. For one, the obsidian arrows would do approx 1.5x more damage than the regular arrows because of their deadly sharp points. However, as obsidian is a breakable and glass-like material, it would shatter upon impact and thus you could not recollect your arrows. (although occasionally, say a 1/4 chance, you will get your stick and feather back) Obsidian arrows would also have a 1.2x less firing rate than regular arrows, meaning you can't go hero mode as easily as you can with the current arrows.
Now, onto flaming arrows. To make these, simply put in the normal arrow recipe with coal instead of flint or obsidian arrow tips. This will make 2 unfinished arrows that cannot be used as ammo yet. Put the unfinished arrows in the crafting box, and place a flint and steel above them. This is the recipe for 2 flaming arrows, which you can use as ammo. Note that the flint and steel will not disappear, similarly to the buckets when making cake, until you have made 14 flaming arrows.
Flaming arrows would do 0.25x the damage of regular arrows on impact, but they automatically ignite whatever they hit for fire damage. (As Ghasts aren't affected by fire, these wouldn't be very useful when combating them) Any mob that goes into water after being hit with an arrow is put out, and they cannot be set on fire while floating on a body of water. Creepers would not explode upon catching on fire unless you were in the explosion radius as you shot the arrow. Anything flammable that the flaming arrows hit WOULD catch on fire, so be careful. Flaming arrows wouldn't be able to be recollected in any way.
Uhmmm tbh I don't really give a frack :biggrin.gif: Calm down people it's a game and an online forum, stop getting yo lil panties in a twist. Terrible community I must say :biggrin.gif:

...who's angry? All we said was try using the search bar. Geez.
Don't like it? Just go away then. Especially if you "don't give a frack". That's just selfish. And lazy. And (insert adjective here).
A good community is one that helps it's more "confused" members learn how to be good forumers, for example by letting people know when people have posted topics similar to theirs before, so using the search bar would be beneficial to everyone. A bad community is one who says "I don't give a 'frack' about what would save others trouble and annoyance, I'm going to do dumb stuff anyways, then insult them when they try to help".
And the fact that it's a game and an online forum does not excuse the fact that you should have searched up if someone had posted your topic before. There is no relation whatsoever. At all.
