Notch has planned the game mode Zombie siege as you already may know about. Other than what we already know, I was thinking that there would be some mode specific objects (if there will be many others than what we know about) so you can't cheap the other modes out. Here is the list of what could be implemented.
1#Roulette chests (kind of like Call of Duty) give out a random item or material. It could give you a lot or it could give you just 1. Obviously other items are rarer than others so they should be kept that way. As for how many you get, it would be harder to obtain a lot than getting just 1(so there is two roulette effects in play). Now this would only be good to add depending on how Notch decides to make Zombie Siege work.
2#More arrow types other than the one we have now. I have seen flame arrows suggested before, but I am not going there. We need a bunch of different arrow types if we are going to have to face off against a horde of zombies (I know this has been suggested before).
3#(never mind this one)Explosive proof blocks might be a very good thing to have if you might need to use TNT. Water does do this, but there should be a something that is rare as diamonds that could do this.
If you think that this stuff could be considered cheap, I agree with you on some parts. I am thinking Zombie Siege would have a scenario with to many zombies that would put a player in resorting to use these because there would be no way to survive without them. If you have more ideas, any concerns, or thing to change, go right ahead and post them. Also, I have a thread about mob ideas (Fit-th-budget mob ideas) and I really need you guys to comment it (plz!).

I am just a guy looking for good suggestions that are original, creative, and match the theme of Mine-craft. I have some mob ideas that I need help forming which is a community project.
Eh, that was embarassing. I would like to see that other thread you were talking about. And as for me, I wonder how the whole system would work. Would it continuously harder or would it stay at the same difficulty through out the game. Maybe if it got harder, the more powerful you weapons become if the hordes grow bigger in numbers (this way there is no need for arrow upgrading).

I don't want guns or zombies ripped from some lousy generic war shooter series.

Arrows are good enough as is...Roulette thing could be okay.
