Let's say I want to expand my warehouse by one square. I would need to destroy my lines of chests and move every item one-by-one, very tedious. Makes the game very un-fun.
It'd be great if we could relocate the entire chest.
I'm not sure what mechanism could be used for this that'd work best for the game.
I do agree that moving in items one by one is tedious, but it cant be helped. Your idea does not explain enough for me to understand what you are getting at. Hand trucks?

You can place a chest in a minecart and push that around. It can be hard to move it without a track, (especially up hills) but it's quite handy if your just going down into a cave and you need more inventory space.
I like that you can put chests into minecarts but what if you want to remove the chest from the minecart (with the items still inside) to place onto the ground.
I edited this out of my original post but, when I mentioned the use of hand trucks. It'd basically be like a minecart but it would travel along the ground. That may be a bad idea though.
Alternatively, how do you guys feel about being able to actually carry an item? E.g. the game won't let you you put a chest (that contains items) into inventory but what if it will let you "carry" it. So you'd maybe "equip" a hand truck and if you were to right click onto a chest, the chest would (for lack of a better term) "get stuck" to the hand truck so that you could place the chest somewhere else with all items still inside.
Use the search bar, this has been suggested in many threads.
Second, this needs to be more in depth.
Third, two words, I'll make them really big so you can see them.
STORAGE MINECART!
Thats kind of a **** move there buddy, with the big writing and such, really, I think this idea has some merit, maybe your the kind of person who doesn't understand common sense, but a Storage minecart is highly impractical for a house or something of that sort. and I also find it very inconveniencing to have to move items one by one, what is wrong with this idea really? do you have something against moving chests? do they give you nightmares? "OMG MOVING CHESTS, AHHHHH!!!!"? I mean come on, give the guy a break, hes just trying to voice his opinion, and you come in all being a troll and what not.
He doesn't want to move the chest long distances. He wants to make it easier to pick up and put down a couple blocks over. Granted, the clicking is lessened from the new shift-click, but its still a pain.
The pistons feature will be added in the next couple of updates hopefully (not 1.6), and that should move it 1 block.

What's up? I'm the proud co-owner of a little ClassiCube server called Minebuild.

Sometimes, you just need a little more cave.
