I searched 'bread' and got numerous topics but nothing really like my idea.
There can be two types of bread, the one we have now, we can call 'flatbread' I suppose, and made just like normal, healing 2.5 hearts.
Now we can have another bread.. I don't know what to call it, but it can have that more 'chef hat' fluffy appearance - any picture will do though
To make:
Wheat makes flour now if not put side by side, but it put staggered like a flint and steel setup. The middle wheat one lower than the left and right.
You need now three flower (IE 9 wheat), and 1 bucket of water. This gives you the empty bucket back (like cake making) and dough.
Dough is then put in the cobblestone furnace and baked. Yes taking 10 seconds like normal. This yields a higher quality bread that heals 5.5 hearts.
It is a bit more crafty (as I think the namesake of the game) which is a good thing.
Considering your idea, it might have been wise to search 'dough' and 'flour' as well.
Your meaning could be illustrated better with some basic visuals. Like, for example, when you said "like the flint & steel", you could replace that with smilies representing the crafting recipe:

I think your idea is pretty good. It paves the way for even more complex food items, like pizza. It kind of blurs the line between farmed food (bread) and hunted food (everything else) in that bread can be carried as wheat (63 units of wheat makes 21 units of bread, and it can be held in a single stack!) and assembled using only a workbench, whereas this new type of bread, while it can still be held at high capacity (63 flour, 21 high-quality bread), has the added disadvantage that it needs a workbench, bucket of water, furnace, and some kind of fuel to create (unless it could be stacked as uncooked dough, but I'd assume that the dough could be eaten as a slightly-better or slightly-worse version of bread). However, it has its merits, and I would be perfectly fine with this getting into the game.
I like your idea of "dough opening up new ideas", like Pizza.
How about putting dough in the grid and it can yield x4 'dough balls'.
dough say can't stack, but dough balls can (IE easy storage), also bread can't stack, but if you bake dough balls into 'mini rolls' those mini rolls can then stack, and each can restore either 0.5 or 1 heart each.
that would be very nifty - non-stack-able bread for 5.5 hearts, or stack-able for 1heart (or 0.5 each).
Many new possibilities... you pizza can work, if you can craft milk into cheese and then combine dough balls with cheese to make 'raw pizza' and then 'cooked pizza'. :happy.gif: This 'dough' idea is shaping up nicely. You can even combine raw porkchop, cheese, and dough to make ' supreme pizza', restoring 7hearts :tongue.gif:
