I've been thinking: Spiders are kind of unique aggressive mobs. They're the only type of monster that's not a humanoid. They're the only insects in the game and they have a special kind of behavior. Well I believe spiders should have their own dungeons: Nests.
Nests will consist of a type of block called Web. Webs are basically transparent slabs that are white-ish gray. They make you move the same speed you would on slow sand and you are unable to jump. Although, it makes spiders 4% faster. Easily making you their main prey. This also affects all other mobs. The webs in nests will be scattered around in bunches, and usually be suspened above other caverns. Web breaks as fast as wool. It CAN be stacked. Here's the crafting recipe:

You will be able to tell a spider nest is near because there will be web scattered around large cavern openings.
Also, there will be 2 forms of spawns for the spiders.
1: Usual mob spawners
2: Spider mothers
The Spider mothers will be 2 blocks higher and wider than a normal spider. They will be a dark shade of brown, and have a furry texture. Closely to resemble that of a tarantula. They will also have black eyes instead of red.
The mothers will have 30 hearts and move half the speed of a human. It can spawn up to 4 spiders at a time, so no matter how many spiders you kill, there will always be some wating for you. The spider mother will drop these:
5-8 strings (85% chance)
1-3 leather (15% chance)
There will be at least 1 chest and 1 large chest, which consist of things normally found in chests.

The spider mothers would be impossible, you woudl NEVER be able to get out alive, besides, the spiders would flood out once you break in.

I like this idea of randomly finding a nest of spiders :smile.gif:
Maybe add some kinda web chest, to keep with the feel of the spider, you can find bones of some poor sap who wandered in before you :smile.gif:

Less overpowered.
BTW, ghasts aren't humanoid.
And I know I've seen giant spiders suggested somewhere, but I'm not finding the right keywords in search.
Oh yeah, I hadn't thought about Ghasts.
