O no it is not. The human brain is wired to always think the best of itself and what it creates. So if a ton of anonymous people suddenly start criticisng that idea you thought was so great you had to share it with the world, it can really get you down and cause you to lash out. Not to mention that plenty of the people that post here are children, and can't think about criticism in a mature way.
Few seem to lash out. Most either offer common excuses or go silent. Or both, in that order. About one in ten actually take the advice and attempt to change their suggestion for the better. Whether they get upset or not, their reactions are well within civil limits. I'd call that handling it well enough.
Perhaps my standards are a bit low, but given where we are...
Which is what I'd call failure to handle negative reception.
The point of my post was to counter McRiviter's request. He made a request (of unknown legitimacy) that if you can't handle negative reception; don't post at all...
I love it; it would dramatically cut down on the number of posters. The problem is this is a discussion forum; these posts are kind of needed to keep this forum going.
I wouldn't say that going silent or using common excuses is being unable to handle criticism. The common excuses are common because they are often the first things people think of in this scenario. It is more a symptom of not thinking critically about how they want to respond in general, rather than specific response to criticism. They often jump to the first response they can think of.
As far as no response thing, a huge huge number of people post once and never again in general, and even moreso if the Suggestions section isn't their usual haunt. I couldn't attribute that to bad response to criticism, it happens all the time in all sections.

That's really tricky. Everyone thinks they can handle negative reception. The truth is that negative reception is REALLY HARD to handle; most can't.
It really, really isn't hard at all. Some people just need to accept that their ideas won't gain 100% approval, and that seeing "no support" is not a gateway for you to say "this forum is the worsst!!"

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.
"Mojang! Why haven't you done this yet?! Uuuugghh!!"
"4 - Know your audience. Mojang doesn't typically read these suggestions, they are just a fun way to talk about what you want in the game. So it is a good idea to address your idea towards other posters, not to Mojang themselves."
Why is the new status quo becoming to just list things said in the section you don't like?
Say what you'd put in the guide regarding it, or at least offer some kind of argument.
No it isn't. If people do no expand on the things they want included or problems they see in the section I can't use that information so it will be disregarded. If it becomes excessive it may be considered as spam (as non contributing posts).

I think his point is that people shouldn't make suggestions that are dorky ragey rants just because the game doesn't have something you just thought up.

I'm speaking generally, and he's not the only one who's done it.
That said, Chameleon summed it up pretty well. It's already established that Mojang isn't the audience.

Any likely chance a hall of fame or list of quality suggestions will make a return either in this Topic, or a new perhaps pinned thread? I mean to make efficient use of the suggestions forum a way to see the suggestions without digging through thousands of posts or using the monotonous search bar would be great for people to see, talk, respond to and have reference to quality suggestion posts? A library of sorts.
Besides, how will anyone's ideas ever be noticed if the dev's don't have a way to view the 'highly supported and quality' suggestions? They don't take a liking to being spammed, reddited and tweeted at. It's sort of a battlefield here to keep a suggestion relevant. a library sort of thing would diminish that issue.
Perhaps a separate thread for quality suggestions categorized by size and features (small, medium, large).

Basically i think they think of ideas and then search for what other people may have come up with for the same concept then see if our designs, ideas or general input is something they'd like to incorporate.

The point is that they look elsewhere, like Reddit, not here.

The problem with this is it's so subjective, someone is bound to get mad. It caused a lot of drama in the last thread.

I would agree with you if they had ever shown that they've looked at this forum. I've never seen anything from this forum get in.
Defining "good" becomes rapidly too complex to handle unless you plan to be here a while. Quite a few don't, and so experience/logic-driven standards tend to be perceived as elitism. In many mediums where criticism is involved, well-known and reasoned standards are fine and necessary, but here... the majority of people who make suggestions just don't care, and will treat it with disdain if obtrusive enough.
This is ultimately why the old thread was taken down, and why a Hall of Fame can no longer work in this environment. It doesn't mean that good and bad are relative or subjective, it just means that defining them too precisely makes little difference outside of making many people grumpy.
The point is that they look elsewhere, like Reddit, not here.
So i just tried to site an example but it appears the post/thread has been removed(this was hardly a week or two ago i found it). Someone made a parrot suggestion on here from 2014 and low and behold it's super identical to the parrots now.

That means one of two things has happened:
1. Someone (hopefully the creator) reposted it on Reddit.
2. Coincidentally, Mojang came up with the same idea.

They mentioned having a reddit post too, but there was some sort of celebratory (almost necroposting) comment the author had- in shock his/her idea had been seemingly added to the game. It was super identical like coincidence on steroids to the addition mojang made. The post was from 2014 too. I made a long comment on it celebrating the chance it was looked at with said author- just 2 weeks ago. Now in my posts- it is gone and isn't in the suggestions thread anywhere.
However- I think mojang may want people to not know they are observing these ideas, because by them anonymously viewing, there is no controversial bias or hysteria in the thread. Shoot i was one of Maria's (@MiaLem_n parrot creating dev at mojang) first hundred followers and I'd be willing to tweet her and see if she would admit to viewing the suggestion, but if there is an agenda to remain anonymous, surely i wont receive an answer.

It's actually pretty easy to handle, and only the edge cases on this forum seem to handle it badly.
