Since moldavite can only be created by an asteroid heating something past molten level, I suggest asteroids and moldavite!
MOD COMING SOON!!! Mod Progress: 30%
When you see moldavite, it would look like this:
This picture was made by: PwnageguyXD
(BTW: I was thinking of a shard kind of look, not an ingot look)
It has the same mine time as redstone.
What if you make a staff using Moldavite ore! With this staff, you can control mobs to be your minions. Pigs will turn into pigmen and walk around!
Maybe it can make wool glow?
Maybe when a meteorite strikes land there is a small amount of radiation and if you stay in the area for too long, then you will start losing hearts!
I don't think some people get this. Meteorites can strike your house. There is nothing from stopping it. And it can even destroy obsidian, so don't try to make a shield out of it, unless you intend to layer it. :wink.gif: But, it is unlikely that it will.
Maybe moldavite blocks could cause a meteorite to explode 15 blocks above it. Maybe this could cause stones to fly and break glass?
The meteorite could strike your world every 10-12 days. It would pinpoint the location of the player and choose a random location within a 50 block radius to drop the asteroid. Does that solve the problem of the 1/25 chance of it hitting your house?
You can craft a moldavite watch and compass that shows you when and where an asteroid will impact.
You can craft a moldavite magnet that catches a meteor before it falls to the ground. It may be used 5 times before it will explode and act as 1/2 of a TNT block.
More ideas... Hmm... I'll think... You may also suggest ideas and I will add it!

I think the nether needs an immense ammount of work to begin with.
I agree. I have removed the idea of another dimension.

Here is a sneak peek of what is coming up in the mod:
Ore spawning glitch:
Radioactive Wool:
Smelting the ore:

killjoy43: Awesome idea! I want the banner!
Well luckily, we have one! If you support moldavite, get our banner!
Can we stick to having real ores (exception of red stone that should be changed to copper)? People have suggested using bone blocks for the same purpose or using sulfur (which has a very unattractive smell) to repel mobs. That, and we have no idea what the scarecrow will do. I don't like the ore idea, but the repellent to mobs is a very useful thing to have.

I am just a guy looking for good suggestions that are original, creative, and match the theme of Mine-craft. I have some mob ideas that I need help forming which is a community project.

Moldavite is a real ore! Look it up! Everything I said about it is true. They form from asteroid impacts! All I did is added a use in minecraft.
I have never been a friend of mistaking a video game for real life; so creating a fake/imagined/unreal/arbitrary/fictitious ore in a real game based in a fake/imagined/unreal/arbitrary/fictitious world seem more real than creating a real ore (tungsten ore FTW) in the scope of a game.
Sometimes a game just needs to be a game, and lose it's unfortunate hinge on real life.
Oh, I never heard of this ore. Well, I am up to hearing this idea. I have a question though, wouldn't an asteroid blowup on contact to the ground? I would probably make your idea more like when a map generates, a player will notice there are a few craters that have a circular triangle appearance. The craters can be found on land and in water. This way it won't destroy your creations and your ore can fit in the game! Now, I am going to search up on this interesting ore and see what I think about it. P.S. I had an idea of getting a lot of glowstone to make it look like the meteor survived the crash on top of a hill. If that sounds familiar, then it will zoom zoom or boing boing into your head EB. (I am referancing something)

When an asteroid threatens to collide, it stops being an asteroid and begins being a meteorite. And when a meteorite strikes, you begin wondering how many creepers died a sad sad death.
Actually, there is a chance of it colliding into the ground if it is big enough. Also, it would be a hassle to get them because if it blew up wouldn't the block go into pick-up form (it would be annoying if they acted a physical block and you would have to mine it away on your creations)? Oh, I came back with what moldavite does too. unfortunately all I could find was using it a jewelry and turning it into a theraputic oil. Moldavite looks darker than what you have it too. I would suggest adding silicon though. Silicon is the second most abundant element on Earth and is very useful (wikipedia said it was something we couldn't live without). Silicon is used in making solar panels, electrical coductors (copper is better), making glass more durable and flexible, and is good fertilizer for crops like rice. Silicon is indeed found in meteors, volcanoes, obsidian, and gold exhalations. I really want to keep moldavite, but unless you can find more uses, I don't think it should be added. I still want you to back up this ore though. (I can't at this moment because I am typing on the DSi™) Pac-man (°< ••••• l※l

Wikipedia is right, but it is more accurate to state that fossil fuels are what the world cannot live without.
I don't mean that because of the honk-honk/drive-drive connotation. I mean that because, until recently, the vast majority of plastic is made from fossil fuels, and a vast amount of plastic is found in everything from the plastic container holding your ice cream to the solvent making your ice cream creamier.
Carbon is the universal element, and much more necessary than silicon, though without it, you couldn't have computing.

I will subtract mob repelland sinse it is not popular. I will try to think of another use. It's late so I'll post this and start thinking. Until then, keep thinking about moldavite!

+1, I like this idea.
Well, lapis lazuli is a real ore with a use implimented into minecraft
So that's what i'm thinking with Moldavite. Just have to think of a new use for it...
I like this idea, it would add something, i guess you can "astronomical" to minecraft, and make it a little moar interesting
Yes, I agree!
I think seen small-medium asteriod impacts would be nice, I'd like it if asteroids would land FAR AWAY from the player and his spawn point, thus preventing the destruction of someones mansion. Also, craters should glow since of the heat and most major craters should be generated by teh map generator, but be quite rare.

I personally feel the exact oppopsite, blowing someone'ss house up with a asteroid would be awesome!
also, the asteroid should only land in a place the player is looking at, ensuring that they know that theres been a asteroid landing.
Let's see you say that whan it blows up your house! :biggrin.gif:
