You can till it to create farmland, and if you also rightclick with water (or it rains or however else one can fill a cauldron) it will hydrate. All normal plant rules apply, so farm crops will grow slower and you won't be able to place sugarcane without a filled cauldron. Additionally, water in a cauldron does NOT reach out to further blocks like a normal water source block does..

So... basically a more expensive way to do something you can literally do with nothing more than grass and a wooden hoe? I don't see the point of this. No support.
