So I was thinking about what Creepers are and I know that Creepers are a plant based life form; so pretty much after dwelling on the thought on how Creepers are created I pretty much think this is how it would be. A large tree with large branches going upward "http://www.gardenaction.co.uk/images/large_tree.jpg" <==== something like that. With slightly smaller Creepers lighter in color hanging upside down with it's body positioned in a way that it's some what like a fetal position. At the bottom of the tree the roots would be exposed and in and oasis of light blue or green glowing water. (Aesthetic water for a future update yay or nay) The tree would be found underground reasonably close to the surface (possibly linked to the surface via a linear cave system) Maybe this could be a potential Creeper spawner in a sense (or something just cool to discover) although the type of tree would have to have some kind of natural blast resistance (New tree type?)
This is really just a thought but I think it's pretty neat. Although I have no idea about what a new tree type could be or the purpose of glowing water could be other than for aesthetic kinda like coloured glass. So I'll just leave this here and maybe someone will think of something cool to add to this as well.

When will Endermen learn to stop trampling my wheat field at dawn?
I don't get why everyone thinks Creepers are plant based. I know Notch once said that they would feel "crunchy, like leaves" but you know what else is crunchy like a leaf but not plant based? Hundreds of things. People are way too keen to take anything a developer says and contract crazy theories from it or treat offhand comments like the word of law. Unless there has been an actual confirmation I am not privy to.
So I will support some kind of large hollow tree that leads from the surface to a cave, that sounds pretty darn neat. And to a wood type that is resistant to explosions (could it be fireproof too, like petrified wood?) But not the Creeper stuff because as I said, an offhand comment that one thing has a similar texture to something else does not mean it is the same thing (but again, maybe I missed confirmation). But also because one of my favorite things about the game is a lack of information about lore. We don't know why or how the world is like it is, we just know that it exists like that.

Ummm... How are creepers plant based? Anyways, I have to say it is way unfair, because what if you built a base near it without even knowing...
If this would be implemented the player would have to build very close to the hole for this to be a possibility, with the cave entrance being right in front of their house. Also the size of the cave would have to be taken into account as well and the depth of the tree and a Creepers aggro distance and the rate of which Creepers would grow from the tree (if at all purely aesthetic possibly).
As Badprenup said it was a comment made by Notch "Notch once said that they would feel "crunchy, like leaves"" Maybe they're not plants or maybe they are it's never been specified at least to my knowledge. So maybe Mojang could expand on Creepers or leave it as is, but either way this is only a suggestion.

All of my this.
There's always a massive question mark appearing above my head when someone calls a Creeper an "exploding plant". I don't support this, this is super weird and I don't want the most destructive trollish mob having a defined spawn area.

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.

I don't even play Minecraft much anymore yet here I am on the Minecraft forums for some reason...
