The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
Hi minecrafters! (I am new to forums and this is my 3rd suggestion thread) I just got an idea of real life thing to add: variation in day night length.
First of all, whenever a map is generated, a new parameter, latitude, is made, which is between -90 and 90. It is either positive or negative, based on seed. That is called the latitude of world spawn. It increases by 1 every 1024 blocks you travel towards north, decreases bt 1 every 1024 blocks towards south. If it reaches 90, then it reverses. Thus, it comes like this: 88,89,90,89,88,....-88,-89,-90,-89,..... These latitudes have 2 effects: 1. They effect length of day
2. They effect the possibility of biomes, both of which can be disabled in customized mode. And alos 3. Eclipses, see below.
There is also another new parameter, time_of_year, which is a value between 0 and 7. You always start at value 0, but starting value can be changed in customized mode.. The value increases by 1 every 8 ingame days. The 8 can be changed to any value in customized mode. The value 0 has longest days, 1 has bit shorter, 2 even shorter, 3 has even shorter, 4 shortest, 5 longer a bit, 6 even longer, 7 even loneger, then 0 again. It can be decimal number, thus e.g. 0.125 means 1 ingame day. It is always a multiple of 0.125
Now, there is new option at start(or exclusive to customized) ,Starter latitude: Random, equator (0), tropical(-20 to 20) temperate (-48 to -20, 20 to 48) far (48-70, -48 to -70), polar (above 70 or below -70).
The possibilty or biomes:( does not change abruptly, it changes gradually)
NOTE: Frozen ocean can spawn only if it is next to cold beach
0.25% frozen ocean
2% frozen ocean.
10% frozen ocean
Latitude: 75 or more
29% frozen ocean
Then, day length variation...
Day is now 24 min instead of 20.
there are 5 phases of day now:
1. Daytime : Light level 15. Sky blue colour sky
2. Civil twilight: Light level 11-14. Discussed later. Medium blue sky.
3. Nauctial twilight: Ligh level 8-10. Dark Blue sky. Discussed later.
4. Astronomical twilight: Light level 5-7. Black sky. Monsters can spawn. Discussed later.
5. Night: Light level 4.
The amount of day is exactly 12 minutes at equator.
When the time_of_year is.....
0,the daylength increases by 10 seconds every 1 latitude, or 1 every 102.4 blocks. (Groups of 6x6 areas have same time, the time of majority of the group is taken)
1, the daylength increases by 5 seconds every 1 latitudes, or 1 every 204.8 blocks
2, the daylength is equal every place, 12 min,
4, decreses by 10 sec every 1 latitude.
it decreases uniformly. For eg, in 0.125, it would be 1/8 of (no. of extra seconds) shorter than 0, 0.375 is 3/8 the no. shorter.
An worked example: Latitude: 25. Time of year: 1
so, 1 of (no. of extra seconds) shorter
No. Of extra seconds = 5 seconds per latitude x 25 latitude.
that is, 125 seconds or 2 min 5 sec longer than 12 minutes, or would say, 14 min and 5 sec of daylight.. So the sun rises 1 min 2.5 sec earlier (2 m 5s/2) and sets 1 mim 2.5 sec later.
So, it rises at 4 min 57.5 sec after midnight, and sets 19 min 2.5 sec after midnight.
There is a new parameter, sun_graph. It is not seen in game, but it is found in .minecfaft file. It is an 2880x2880 excel grid. The 2880 column shows the value of time_of_year, and every 45 columns are same for value 0, then next 45 valus are for 0.125, so on and the 2880 rows show time of day, 0:00 to 23:59.5. The daytime is marked in white, night in black. Twilight appears on the graph in blue, which is within 180 rows of daylight. The duration of specfic twilight is total duration/3. The light level decreases by (1 pertotal twilight duration/11 seconds)
Its complicated to all i think, but we shoule move on, to
ECLIPSES and TRANSISTS of mercury and venus!
< I am addind this section soon, they habe somthing to do with latitudes>
