Your kidding, right? What you're not? Wow.
This is way too close to lord of the rings. I mean really, this is exactly like LOTR. And another thing. This is not an RPG. If you want an RPG-like game, then play something else. We aren't going to change the whole basis of the game to make it like this.
First, having advantages like this would take away something from minecraft. It is making it too much like an RPG. Second, Mojang could get into some trouble for doing something so close to lord of the rings. Third, the special things for each of the races is just, dumb. It will be too complicated for a simple sandbox game.
So, no support. As much as I like fantasy RPGs, they do not mix with minecraft. I would probably quit if they added this.
I somewhat dislike the idea of multiple player races in Minecraft and if there were, I would prefer they weren't bland, generic, and overused races like Orcs, Elves, Dwarves, and such. I'd rather see playable races like the Testificates or intelligent Endermen.
Testificates, for example, could get better trades in villages and get more powerful, longer lasting effects from potions, but do less damage and mine slightly slower.
Endermen could teleport short distances and wouldn't make other Endermen hostile by looking at them, but would not be able to fit in two block high spaces like Humans or Testificates.

Not only is this going to resemble just about every fantasy game ever made, but this thread is from 2011 and is completely useless.

"You tried mercenary work? It might suit you."
"On a scale of one mile to Lord of the Rings, how far did you walk today?"
Just because it is old doesn't mean it is useless. I'm not saying I want it, but the person still may want it.
That was back a thousand (Actually three, but it feels like a thousand) years ago, when we had only a fourth-something of the blocks we have now, and the game could take any direction possible.
Now, many people are just dead-set on the opinion that Minecraft is an "odd duckling" sandbox game and want to avoid the RPG theme. This topic doesn't really merit a lot of discussion now.
Not to be mean but 100% NO this isnt WOW as many are saying it should be equal as it is now no extra stuff such as "orc 10x hit damage" because i see it now PVP just full of orcs while the dwarfs are just standing there going "hey im a dwarf i can stand here and watch you fight. Want me to dig you a hole?"
Blizzard didnt invented any of these races.. But, i wish there could be Dwarven mobs, they will be something like a villager but they will live underground.
.........2011 HMMMMMMM.

I think this could be interesting if implemented in a different way. Perhaps not different races, but instead a slider-based character customization screen that allow you to make many of the choices listed above, with all of their advantages and disadvantages. This way, each player would still be a human, but still be able to customize certain aspects of their performance.
I completely disagree, Minecraft isn't an rpg. If you could choose to be Testificate's and Pigmen however, my opinion would change.
How do the races one could choose make something more or less "RPG"? RPG =/= generic fantasy. RPG = a game or game elements focused on customization and levelling. There are plenty of Sci-Fi, modern, historical, or even surreal RPGs out there, and plenty of non-RPG fantasy games. End of rant.
I agree that minecraft could benefit from some attribute system, but adding elfs, orcs and other fantastical races is just a horrible idea. Minecraft isn't some D&D or WoW RPG clone, it's a survivalcraft game set in its own unique universe. Besides, isn't it getting kinda old with these fantasy clichés? The least thing you could've suggested was some unique races?
Also, we already have the ability to customize our skin any way we like and now we even have the ability to scan or take picture of a drawn skin and convert it into an actual skin.
