You're outside your base, gathering crops. The Sun is falling fast. You race inside, slam the door and flip a switch. What does this switch do? It turns on your arsenal of Light-Blocks! With several clicks, all of them turn on at once. Your lawn and the area near your house is now flooded in light. You can now tell where the heck that dang growling noise is coming from...
Crafting/Functions
Here, have this list of functions.
•The "Light-Block", as I call it, would require redstone input.
•Light-Block would only shine on it's 4 horizontal sides.
•Light-Block would be 100-150% the brightness of a torch.
The crafting recipe WOULD require a trip to the Nether. It would be something like this:
I am not, however, so sure about using wood... Perhaps stone instead?

I kind of like the Lantern idea better, but lightbuilbs would be nice too. They could take the form of sconces or normal standing lamps on a flat block - possibly a standing lamp if you put one on top of another one. So it would be more for "the looks" of a lighting fixture. It should also not require the use of redstone, because it'd look entirely hideous/be a big mess. So the lighting fixtures would require a click to turn on and off - so that means you'd have to turn each and everyone of them on, though you'd never have to turn them off anyway...
Like the idea of a craft-able light source that uses some sort of switch and lights an area greater than torches. However, it would be nice if it emanated from some sort of red-stone generator or some such, cause for now it seems like redstone doesn't have enough uses in game.
I can imagine this as being a great way to quickly light your house. The issue would be the redstone wire/other substance needed to do this. Mabye they should make the wriing placeable on the sides of walls, and in between blocks, making a house wiring system much easier.

What about torches + glass = improved lighting torch
then "redstone-activated improved torch"?
**or maybe lanterns lit by oil or some such (would fit the medieval theme better, if the game even has a medieval theme in the first place)
