For those who don't know, Cameras are in the code of Pocket Edition but cannot be obtained legitimately in any of the game modes. I think they could be pretty useful if they were brought to the PC version(and eventually make them work in PE too).
Now, they wouldn't be digital cameras(of course), they would look like the old tripod cameras, like this:
They can be placed in 16 different directions, just like signs, and will face the direction of the player when placed.
When they receive a redstone signal, they're going to take a screenshot, which will be saved in a "camera" sub-folder inside of the screenshots folder.
You can right click on a camera to enter it's "vision" and preview the image it's going to take. By scrolling the mouse wheel you can change the field of view, and you can use the + and - keys to zoom in and out, respectively, you can also move the view of the camera around with the WASD keys, you exit the camera by pressing shift. All of the camera controls can be rebindable.
Right clicking on them with paper will give you a picture, it can be placed in an item frame for show, like a map.
You can also press the space bar to switch between filters/shaders.
They would be affected by gravity, just like an armor stand, and can be mined instantly.
The crafting recipe could be something like this:
How is this better than just pressing F2?
-You can take multiple screenshots at once
-You can change the field of vision of each image separately without having to change your regular FOV
-You can take zoomed in/out screenshots without having to use mods
I don't see anything wrong with this. Which it shouldn't be if it works well in Pocket Edition. You got yourself one sugar-coated support.

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.
But seriously, this could actually be cool. I can already see multiple uses for it, even in things like adventure maps. Not sure if it's really needed in survival, but that doesn't really make a difference.
Sounds cool. It would also be good if you could somehow apply the shaders that used to be in the Super Secret Settings to the camera, to increase their usefulness.
I feel as is this is the only thread worth my attention right now
"By scrolling the mouse wheel you can change the field of view"
Not all mouses have a mouse wheel. How would one do this without a mouse wheel?
I'd only support this if one could access their pictures in-game in the form of taken photos.
I'd like it if one had to add film which saved the picture to it once used, which can be seen when viewed in-hand like a map.
I only say so because, as is, it doesn't add anything to the game and I'd rather it did.
I like your idea: You have half my support.
Edit: Perhaps Glass Panes could be used as lenses, in a GUI, to tint (depending on dye) the picture.
These are excellent additions. I would assume that the keys for the camera would be rebindable though, so mouse wheel being default isn't a huge deal.
Support if this is added. Making the pictures work on servers might be hard but if they only take up a block the resolution can be tiny for those.

BA
They were removed from MCPE for some reason, but it would work great on PC.
Support!
Watch out for the crabocalypse. Some say the day will never come. But it will.
Feel free to drop by for a chat whenever.
If you'd like to talk with me about other games, here are a few I play.
Team Fortress 2
Borderlands series (Borderlands 2 is my favorite game, ever. TPS combat is a lot of fun and makes up for the lower-quality story, in my opinion)
Elder Scrolls series
Warframe (IGN is something like That_One_Flesh_Atronach)
Pokémon series (HGSS forever)
Rocket League
Fallout series
Left 4 Dead 2 (Boomer files always corrupt though)
SUPERHOT (SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!)
Dead Rising series (Dead Rising 2 is one of my favorite games, and the 3rd was a lot of fun. 1st has poor survivor AI and the 4th is bad)
Just Cause series
Come to think of it, I mainly play fighting-based games.
