The reason Beds aren't coloured is because of a lack of block meta data.
Each block has 4 bits (or 16 numbers) in which to store things such as rotation, colour or state. Beds already use most of them to store it's rotation.
They could increase the amount of meta data, but it would also exponentially increase memory usage.

Oh well, beds are still cool, so i'm not complaining.

If they just had separate block IDs for different colors of bed it wouldn't make much difference. Obviously I have no idea how this would complicate things for the minecraft devs, but hey....
I also think that the double and bunk beds suggested in another thread would be aesthetically pleasing, even if technically useless. I would love to add a barracks to my fortress, but rows of single beds just don't cut it, and I need something suitably impressive for my bedroom (it's not a four-poster, but I could fake one).
and so on?
Support?
actually if you look at the date and time i posted this idea first sooooo...

Thread was started back in February.
If we're not going to be able to change the color of a bed, then the color employed should be neutral.
Which, honestly, should've been a no-brainer.
Doesn't Mojang has an in-house artist these days?
