We'll know what you say when you say "overpowered", but "unoriginal" doesn't really prove anything. Even suggestions in the hall of fame have had similar threads before them. I'm kinda disappointed that you got 2 upvotes for that post. I wish people would give some thought into what posts they give +rep to...
As for the idea, 50% support. I'm not crazy about it but I wouldn't mind it.
"Off of a horse it does ½ damage/knockback at sprinting speed, and only ¼ knockback (no damage) at walking speed."
I hope it doesn't do that crazy amount of knock-back off a House, too
"unoriginal and overpowered. no support."
Unoriginal? No, because it's the first weapon for Horses.
Overpowered? Well, it can only be used a Horse, with the right terrain, and someone could easily put down blocks as defence, but it might be.
When I give this more thought, I can imagine people doing sharp turns at "close" range to the player in a figure 8 pattern to hit them really frequently. There is no law saying that you need a long running start, and a horse has only 1 speed (Full speed): You can't do 25% or 50%, it's always 100%, so yes: This is over powered! You need to remedy this. Perhaps this calls for a long cool down.
"there are like 1000000 (a million) suggestions for lances"
That is a terrible argument: If anything, that means that a lot of people like lances so why shouldn't they be put into the game then?
It does more than normal off a horse. But I'd say it's probably not very good in that regard.
Horses have momentum. When they go a direction they tend to keep going that way. You can't do sharp turns on a horse really frequently. At least, not in my experience. There's also terrain disruptions, that you need to be at least three blocks away for it to work, and that the other player is not going to sit still for that. Plus the knockback. And the difficulty of aiming. Maybe if it were a flat surface, the opponent was stuck partly in the ground, and the person was on a very slow horse that would work.
Popular does not equal good. I'm hoping to actually make something good from something that happens to be popular.
1. I shouldn't have to read seperate comments to find out another part of the suggestion. Update the OP with relevant information.
2. So having a Lance with Fire Aspeci is prettly logical, huh? Same with smite? The only enchantments I would actually see as logical for a Lance is Sharpness, Knockback, Unbreaking, and Looting.
3. The issues I listed is what was wrong with the idea that made me not support it. If you don't like it when people don't support a suggestion because of Issues that they point out, then don't make a suggestion. All because you have a good amount of attention doesn't mean that you decide whether or not people can support your idea or not. Heck, someone might not support this idea because of the damage dealt, or crafting recipies, or enchantments, etc.
1. It was updated like seven hours ago.
2. It's perfectly logical. The mechanics work and don't seem to conflict with the concept.
3. See, usually when people complain about easily-fixed issues like a couple of numbers, they offer partial support, conditional on fixing the issue. Your saying no support suggests that you had a problem with the entire suggestion, including all of the mechanics. I have no problem with you not supporting (I don't get upset over things like that), I just wanted to know why.

I find it kind of ironic that you're lecturing him, considering he's been here almost a year longer than you. And yeah, while you shouldn't have to read comments to find the full suggestion, it is also partially your responsibility to search comments for the same question. Just because he doesn't put an answer in the OP doesn't mean you should ask the same question many other people have.
But anyway, support. It does have high stats, but it will require strategy and skill to use, and it'd be nice to have a weapon that works differently, in stead of just a scale-tipping sword copy and paste, it's actually different, and it allows you to have different tools for different situations. We need more suggestions like this, in stead of just "clubs" and "knives" and other stuff like this.

What? Is it? I want sources!
Point of order: If there is an 8-page thread; I shouldn't be responsible for curating the thread to ask a reasonable question without a response in OP. That is not part of the job as a critic. This gives me some fuel for something to add to FTC.
Just because he doesn't put an answer in the OP doesn't mean you should ask the same question many other people have.
If it's an important enough question, and it hasn't been answered (after several people have asked it), then why not? The hope is EVENTUALLY an answer would arise.

I like the changes so far, and I also like the idea of a unique mount-only combat tool. I support. This could be really useful if you're trying to break through a line of zombies as you charge away.

it is. that's just simply putting it. I could also say, that item is so unoriginal, there are like 1000000 (a million) suggestions for lances on the forums. its also overpowered, 10 damage? you might as well say that zombies always drop diamonds. no support.
That is the in depth way of saying it. ok?
I actually checked. There are 5 pages of threads across the entire forum that say lance anywhere in them. That is 100 total threads (rounding up). About 15 of them are actually in this section, and a good chunk of them (7) just mention a lance somewhere in the thread. 1 of the remainders is this thread. MCF just had its 7th birthday a couple days ago. We're averaging just over one Lance suggestion per year at this rate (a bit shy of a million imo), I think we'll be fine as far as originality.
It doesn't seem overpowered either really. 3 Diamonds and it does 3 more damage than a Sword if going at max speed. That requires time to build speed and a good deal of accuracy. I would estimate about a couple seconds at least between attacks. A sword can crit (7 base damage plus 150% damage) every 0.6 or something seconds. If anything this needs a bit more power or an added benefit of something.
Anywho, I don't really like the idea of it using Sword enchantments. Some of them would be too strong (Knockback on top of 4 blocks of normal knockback, Sharpness might be too much at higher levels) or kind of pointless (Looting because the lance doesn't make the most sense for many hostile mobs and BoA because BoA is already terrible and Spiders are 1 block high so they would be next to impossible to hit).
Something like Lightning Rod, where holding it in the upright position on a horse will eventually cause lightning to strike it, doing extra damage to the next mob you hit, and doing the same effects as lightning on various mobs (Villager to Witch, Pig to Z Pigman, charging a Creeper).
All in all I like it.

Alright. I mostly did a quick check to see if any of them were that unfitting or unbalanced. I personally don't consider Knockback or Sharpness to be too powerful for this weapon. Honestly, BoA should probably just be removed as an enchantment altogether. I'll go through the enchantments again and see what I can come up with.

Ok, don't want to start an off-topic conversation, but I just want to clarify.
I'm not saying that being here longer means he can't mess up. But I'm just saying, he's been here a while, he obviously knows what he's doing, and the MinecraftNerd was acting like he was talking to a noob. And I'm not saying a critic should automatically assume that someone already asked the question, I'm just pointing out for someone who's been here a while, it would kinda make sense to look for that in stead of just asking a redundant question that was answered and the OP just forgot to add.
But enough of this conversation, I don't want to get too off topic.
Will you be able to carry the shield , while carrying the Lance (polearm) or will the Lance it be 2-handed?
And how much would the reduced damage be on the opposing player if he carries a shield?
(i prefer reduced damage to no damage at all)
Overall a nice idea , that i would gladly support.
Yes, you'd be able to carry a shield. No other item is two-handed, and I don't wish to start that trend. I don't think you're able to use a lance and a shield at the same time, though. You can hold both in either hand, but you can't hold both left and right click to use both at the same time.
Lances do the exact same as anything else against a shield: all the knockback, none of the damage.
Alright. Thank you.
