So, I've kinda solved my lag problem by turning off animations. The only problem is that you can only do that with OptiFine. So my suggestion is the ability to disable animations in Vanilla. Now you might just say, "just use OptiFine". Well, what if I can't? What if I'm, say, running a mod with Forge? Now that would be a problem.
My friend actually did this for his huge homebrew modpack, and it fixed the lag. I suggest that you just use Optifine its what I and my friend use, and it can ZOOM!

Also someone help me post this on reddit .
Optifine should, mostly, work by dropping it into the mods folder. It is intended to be used this way with Forge.

I'll try doing that later (It's the installer you get from the downloads, right? Or the jar you get after running the installer? Probably the second one ). But you know when you can't use OptiFine? When using snapshots or non-Forge mods (I have one of those).
I also have a feeling that OptiFine can't be installed if you don't have Java. While this isn't very common, my grandparent's computer doesn't have it.
Also, please do not mention "just install OptiFine". I created this thread specifically because there are instances where OptiFine cannot be used, namely modding API's, snapshots, and mods that son't use Forge.

Hmm, would using a resource pack to disable animated textures/particles work?

Hmm, didn't quite work.

To get Optifine working without forge, simply double-click on the Optifine.jar to run the Optifine installer.
