/redstone.
It's a command that can only be run with a command block.
It could be used to give redstone currents.
Syntax:
/redstone <side(s) separated by commas> <intensity of each
side separated by commas> [time of each side separated by commas,
optional, defaults to 20 ticks, in ticks]
It would make systems much smaller.
Exemples:
/redstone top 15 Makes a full-power redstone current for 1 second.
/redstone top, bottom 7,1 17,600 Makes two redstone currents: top one is at power 7 for 17 ticks and the bottom one power 1 for 30 secs.

Since this will not make the redstone mechanisms complicated than what others imagine.

It's better than fast placing and breaking a redstone block using /setblock
