If the idea "wouldn't add much to the game," then what's the point of the developers going out of their way and adding it in the first place? At the very best, I could imagine placeable sticks as a nice aesthetic detail to naturally generate in forest biomes but I can't think of any other use for them aside from maybe leaving trails or marking specific places for future reference, which can just as easily be done with torches (which you get four of for just one stick) or signs.

Also, this is such a small and insignificant detail that it should probably just be posted in the "small suggestions" thread.
This is one of those "I... guess?" ideas to me. I'm sure I would place sticks just to add something extra just because, but I personally wouldn't make the effort to program that in the game.

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.
a lot of mods and even other minecraft ripoffs have the feature to place their' sticks on the ground as blocks
so why not minecraft? fences are a bit too big for using them as placed sticks in my opinion
placeable sticks wouldn't add THAT much content into the game, but it would be a nice addition and i'm assuming, easy to add into minecraft.
