You have my support, survival multiplayer will change with this so people dont break in to your chests constantly i hope this gets added to the game, great ideas. Also maybe add like a block that dissolves so you could have lava above the block and when the person activates the block it vanishes and the lava will flow and burn the person.
these are pretty awesome ideas, I especially like the igniter block, but I think perhaps it should require some netherrack in its recipe. I also had an idea for a spinning blade trap that would rotate 4 swords around itself according to redstone input (each time it goes from OFF to ON the blades would extend, rotate one-quarter turn, and then retract). The recipie would be something like this
where = 4 swords of the same material type and = redstone dust
The direction of rotation would be clockwise from left to right as seen from the direction the player was facing when the block was placed (facing up/down would create blade traps that swing horizontally).

Problem is I dont think Minecraft should have cylindrical shapes...
However i do agree there could be a workaround of the igniter recipe with netherrack.

I never said anything about the blade trap being cylindrical, It would work just fine as a regular block. I used the term rotation only as a means of describing the motion of the blades when active, they wouldn't be visible except when attacking.
I guess this could work but we already have things like the dispenser that can shoot arrows so it kinda of makes it useless. Perhaps if you can make the dispenser point upwards?
Well, the point of this is that it doesn't need reloading, becuase the spikes that shoot out retract, alowing multiple use, however, they would only stick out 2 or three blocks.
I would be great to have a door to open, but it sets off redstone, (Your standing on sand supported by a torch). The redstone would open a girder, which would let water flow free, knocking down the torch and flinging you into a bottomless pit. It would be worse than death because you would have to spend forever getting out

I like your trap chest idea, that seems like a great stealth trap, traps must be unexpected and completely stealthy to work perfect and make the other person go
Great ideas. I especially like the igniter block and the girder. Those two alone would really expand what would be possible with redstone. Here's another idea you might consider: Combine the clock with a stone slab to create a timer that could activate redstone either as a stopwatch or at the same time each day/night based on how you set it. It would be somewhat like the redstone repeater where you could see the clock and maniuplate it with right clicks to make an arrow point at sunrise, mid day, sunset, and midnight. You could use that to trigger all sorts of fun things.

sort of like adding time bombs, either way I like your idea
thats sounds like the girder to me...

Other than that, good suggestions.

oh wow i forgot about the note block. Okay well how do you propose we change the recipe?
A chest with a piece of redstone under is the only one i can think of.
Nice work, man.
= Redstone

Thanks
Support +1
I support, however, there should be an option for all traps to be safe/off
