Pool of the dead is not a trap but simply a list of the traps i have reconsidered to not want anymore. Its on the bottom of this post. They are still available for you to see. Prove how to change it and make it better and maybe ill take it out of there...
Why add more trap making abilities?
Minecraft is a fun game in multiplayer but its also a pain in the behind when it comes to faction mods or wars or griefers. There are some ways to fortify your house but all of them can be thwarted one way or another. These traps simply aim to impede or kill players in the form of a security system. THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO INFILTRATE WITH THESE SUGGESTIONS. Simply makes it harder
Keep in mind that i try to make this as balanced as possible
IGNITER BLOCK
The igniter block can be crafted similarily like the dispenser. All it requires instead is flint and steel. Redstone can activate its On or Off state. When its off, it doesnt do anything but when its on it incinerates anything on top of it making it a good way to burn your enemies. Also it burns your items if it kills you like regular fire...
Igniter block in its off state:
Igniter block in its on state:
TWIG
Twigs are extremely easy to build requiring only 2 sticks and a 2x2 crafting grid. Twigs can be placed on sand or gravel to make sand and gravel float. When it is placed, a little stick would appear to be hanging out of the face in which it was placed in. Then the player can simply place a block on that face and it would stay together and not fall. Of course the sand can then fall if a block is placed near it or a torch is placed on it....etc....
isnt that TOO easy to make?
Well considering the fact that it allows it to be an easily replaceable and allows people to create giant delicate sand structures without as much resource consumption, its a good recipe.
GIRDER/FLOODGATE
Girder block allows water to pass at the command of redstone. In its off state it is open and water and lava can flow in normally. In its on state, the girder closes making it impenetrable to fluids. Its recipe requires lots of flint because it is a well balanced resource and iron would not make much sense as it is already a very valuable resource. The girder block may be one of the most useful and essential block types for creating traps.

Off state:
TOUCH MINE HAS BEEN MOVED TO THE POOL OF THE DEAD.
ONE-WAY-MIRROR HAS BEEN MOVED TO THE POOL OF THE DEAD.
TRAP CHEST
What is it?
Perhaps the most of useful of traps ever...the trap chest is simply a chest that triggers redstone when opened. Looking like a normal chest from the outside, it deviously activates redstone directly behind it allowing epic traps to be made. Such as hooking it up to a girder to drown player with lava or activating a Tnt while the player is busy looking through the empty chest. Being also my favorite trap...the trap chest would be an amazing addition to Minecraft and would thwart the griefers and opponents MERCILESSLY
Apologies for not realizing the recipe has already been taken. Possible suggested ones are:
= redstone torch
DOOR (Expanded abilities)
What new things to the door?
Perhaps this has been suggested before but it would be nice if you could make different types of doors using different materials. Such as bookshelves, wood planks, cobblestone, etc. Of course you wont be able to make them with silly materials as lightstone and what not but this would help the fight against griefing by allowing the player to create a secret room. The door would take the strength of its material.
Recipe with bookshelves:
Clear inconspicious wall. (Mind the lever)
Secret room ahoy!
TRAPDOOR
A must have no matter what in the whole concept of trap-making in Minecraft. If Notch would implement this one, he would probably make the mechanics of them slimer and sexier but this is my preposition: the trapdoor may be activated by redstone or by hand if you craft a wooden one. Its basically just like the door in terms of material types. The entire block would collapse allowing water or players to fall through. This trap may nullify the use of the girder since it really doesnt have any other unique features. Prove me wrong in comments or else TO THE DEADPOOL!
The touch mine is about the size of a quarter of a half step that deals damage when the block it is on is touched, hit, or mined. When the touch mine is placed on a block, that block is now "booby trapped" in the sense that the user will receive damage if he messes with that one block. This can be very useful for placing on walls inside houses, or chests or even furnaces. The touch mine is activated by redstone as well and deals half a heart per second regardless of armour. Touch mine is basically electricity.
Also there is no concept picture for this since it is a special small block type.
Dude....redstone isnt electricity...
Well whatever it is it has magical properties to making watches and compasses work so why not make it electrical?
THE ONE WAY MIRROR <--- removed for being unecessary...
Secrecy is a nice thing to have in Minecraft so why not add this harmless block to your house or secret trap? Similar to the interrogation room mirrors, this one way mirror would be completely undetected from the other side while allowing the viewer on the other side to see through to the other side. With the properties of glass, one way mirrors will be gone forever when removed. Besides cobblestone this can also be made using:
I absolutely love the touch mine, it'd be great for multiplayer servers based on competition and mild pvp and such.
Actually, the igniter block is cool as well, if a little overpowered (think fire barrier being the same switch as closing the door from the inside and such). I'd support it as long as it needed replenishing of the flint and steel, and maybe netherrack required to make it be able to burn forever without going out.
Not entirely sure about twigs and girders, they might be slightly too much of a shortcut for other traps.
EDIT: please, nothing with explosions. The point of TNT is that it's a way to make things explode but is fairly hard to get. No shortcuts there, PLEASE.

No i know tnt is hard to make and what not. Im also not a big fan of explosive entities

I WANT THE GIRDER AND IGNITER BLOCKS NOW!!!! I'M SO EXCITED I'M EVEN WRITING IN CAPS!
I had a similar idea to the girder, which was a flood gate so i already was thinking the same thing. There is one thing that I think needs revision and that would be that if the igniter is added to the game, it will need to run out of flint and steel after a while which you can replace, sorta like the way dispensers don't have unlimited ammo. I'm still kinda confused about the touch mine though.
I guess this could work but we already have things like the dispenser that can shoot arrows so it kinda of makes it useless. Perhaps if you can make the dispenser point upwards?
Updated with the one way mirror idea. This also gave me the idea of making a suggestion in which it is the same thing with the floor. As in it looks like wood from the top but its really an empty block. I thought this was too cheap so I decided not to include it...
You have my support, survival multiplayer will change with this so people dont break in to your chests constantly i hope this gets added to the game, great ideas. Also maybe add like a block that dissolves so you could have lava above the block and when the person activates the block it vanishes and the lava will flow and burn the person.
I like the idea of creating chaos to any annoying player. I just hope they wouldn't be over used so I couldn't get into my house. Also, I thought of a practical idea for lava and gravel ass a trap. I thought of making a spiral staircase that got a little shorter and went inward. The gravel is placed above the openings in the ceiling and would be dropped through a trap door. the face of wondering where it came from as I opened lava through a trap door would be priceless and trying to get rid of all the gravel in his way. My conclusion is that trap doors would be awesome.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I am just a guy looking for good suggestions that are original, creative, and match the theme of Mine-craft. I have some mob ideas that I need help forming which is a community project.

making this a mod would be nice but im aiming to see if even Notch or anyone at Mojang will see this
