*(Just so you know what it is in real life)* Trinitite, also known as atomsite or Alamogordo glass, is the glassy residue left on the desert floor after the plutonium-based Trinity nuclear bomb test *(Just so you know what it is in real life)*
- *The trinitite and radiation could be from a past nuclear explosion, which would explain why there are the monsters*
- Creative, Survival, and Adventure
- Created from large tnt blasts on sand
- Found underground or in villages, dungeons, etc
- Found as Ore Blocks, Plain Blocks, Ore Pieces
- Ore blocks are found under sand only and are rare
- Used as Decoration (Blocks) or as Dye (Pieces)
- Another way to dye/craft green glass
- Used to give any block, tool, etc a poison (radiation) effect that harms hostile mobs and poisons them
- Used as a substitute for lapis azul in enchanting
Every use you have suggested for this fairly rare item is really pointless. You're basically suggesting a far rarer version of Lapis Lazuli that can dye things green rather than blue. Your suggestion also doesn't make much sense. Why would there be this green glass under minecraft deserts if it only occurs after a Polonium-based nuclear bomb goes off on top of the sand. Why would this glass have any kind of magical properties like Lapis does? Why would an explosion from some TNT made entirely of gunpowder and sand create this material?
Basically what I am trying to say is that this really doesn't fit the 'theme' of Minecraft, and is also really redundant. If you want green dye, find a cactus. If you want enchanting, find Lapis. They're both far easier to get than this material.
- Those are suggestions to uses. Mojang can add, remove, or change the uses if they want.
- Half the stuff on minecraft is mainly used in decoration and in creative, so why not add it for those purposes
- Some people, like me and my friends, might like this and use it, even in survival, if they find it.
Mojang does not read anything on these forums. This forum is for us to help refine your complete idea before putting it on Reddit, where Mojang looks. Also, it's not up to Mojang to fix your suggestion. You're the one suggesting it, you're the one who fixes it.
Because putting in an entirely new ore, one that's extremely rare, isn't a good idea if it's used for something innocuous. There's got to be a better reason for it to exist than things that already exist.
Yeah, they might use it, but there's no reason to use it. If you can replace the function of this rare ore with multiple very common items, then why bother putting it in to begin with?
As for the new stuff:
Radiation: Not enough information. How long does it last? How much damage does it do? Are there any mobs it doesn't effect?
Boosting enchantments: Not enough information. If temporary, how long does it last? How much does it boost the enchantment by, and what does that mean? Does it take experience to do so?
Eliminate those "could be"s and make the suggestion as complete and fixed as you can. The suggestion shouldn't be about what could be, but what you have decided would be absolutely beneficial for the game. These new things are very interesting, more the boost than the radiation, and you could potentially make a really good suggestion out of it now that you've added that.
- IDK how exactly the ideas need to be incorporated into the game, I'm sure Mojang has a team dedicated to figuring out how to incorporate new things into the game
- I'M NOT A Mojang WORKER, IDK EVERYTHING THERE IS ABOUT ADDING NEW FEATURES TO GAMES
- LEAVE ME ALONE AND GO HATE ON SOMEONE ELSE'S IDEA
People are allowed to post their positive and negative opinions about your suggestion. None of the opinions I have seen in this thread so far are the slightest bit unreasonable or hateful.
- It's a game, it doesn't have to be completely realistic to the real thing.
- I mean come on: Half, if not more, of Minecraft is fake or over-exaggerated.
I wasn't saying anything about the realism, I was pointing out that you are suggesting a very specific real material, and giving it a lot of abilities which are completely unrelated to the actual material, and could just as easily be applied to pretty much anything. You could suggest Jade, and other than the radiation aspect (which you really haven't explained), the entire suggestion would be completely valid. If you're going to make a suggestion of such a specific real material, at least have the suggestion relevant to that material, rather than a bunch of arbitrary uses.
You also still haven't explained why this radioactive residue would be in the Minecraft world.
Ok, lets look at the changes you've made. As I pointed out before, this suggestion as a whole is pretty vague, so it's hard to judge the suggestion as a whole. The 'radiation' effect and enchantment 'boosting' especially need more detail, as Chameleonred pointed out, so I won't cover that again.
My question still stands as to why this material would have any magical applications, and the question is reinforced by the fact that your suggestion now has not one, but two uses for enchanting. It doesn't matter that parts of Minecraft are made up or exaggerated, this material having uses for enchanting just doesn't make sense. If you want a material to boost enchants (whatever that means) and to be used as a substitute for Lapis in enchanting, then make it something appropriate to that use (hint: radioactive residue isn't really appropriate for that use).
Before you go on about realism, let me give you a bit of a lesson in mythology, specifically about the three main components of enchanting in Minecraft: Diamond, Obsidian and Lapis Lazuli. Diamond was believed to bring great strength, power and even invincibility to a warrior in battle. Obsidian was believed to be a focusing stone, which was used in things such as sacrificial knives. Lapis Lazuli was, again, believed to focus magical energy and create a magical connection between the physical and celestial plane, which makes sense as a catalyst for enchanting.
Minecraft is, as you said, based on some degree of realism. Diamonds bring strength, Obsidian focuses that energy and then Lapis acts as a conduit and brings that energy onto the item you are enchanting. It makes sense, even based on real world ideas. Your material having any purpose for enchanting just doesn't make sense.
Other than that, the only other new thing I can see is that you're asking people not to criticize your suggestion. Sadly, that isn't up to you. If you don't want your suggestion criticized, then don't post it. People on there forums are very critical of even the smallest detail (which is how some threads have tend of thousands of responses). We're not hating. If we were hating, then we wouldn't be telling you what we thought was wrong, we would just be telling you we didn't like it and moving on. We are giving criticism that you can take and change your suggestion accordingly.
Sorry for the long response, but I thought I should properly say what I was trying to say before. To summarize, it still doesn't make sense for enchanting, people are critical, and you need a lot more detail if you want people to stop criticizing it so much. There is a lot of information missing.
Also, as people have pointed out, it's your suggestion, so it's your job to work out the details, not Mojang. Just so you know, Mojang only has 12 people employed as 'Game Developers'. I doubt they have a team specifically to work out how to implement suggestions.
I'm sorry, Ghost, but it's unreasonable when you try to control the responses you get, whether it be in content or length. We're not giving you hate. We're giving you criticism. That's what this forum is for. If you want to reduce the amount of negative criticism you get, you should really follow this.
Where did you look that up?
Do you know how many people actively work on Minecraft? Four. Jeb, Searge, Grum, and ProfMobius. This includes the process of design and the process of creating/changing. They do not have a dedicated team for fixing and incorporating suggestions.
If it was a good idea, I'd be giving it my support. Right now you don't have a real idea. You have the roots of one. You need to work on it, complete it. Take a look at some of the suggestions in my signature if you need an example.
Oh no, someone gave you a really detailed response telling you exactly what they think is wrong with your suggestion.
No long suggestions, no criticizing what you think is wrong with the suggestion, no posting comments about things you think are wrong. It sounds like you just want people to come over and say "Yes! This idea is fantastic!" and then heap praise onto you for your immaculate suggestion.
You really can't try to control what people say about your suggestion, especially when there are so many things in the suggestion that are in need of criticism.
Go have a look at some of the suggestions which have been around for years and have hundreds if not thousands of replies. Compare the quality and style of their thread to yours, and then you might see why there are so many people criticizing your suggestion. And when someone criticizes your suggestion, don't just reply with "NO HATE PLZ", actually take the criticism on board and change your thread accordingly. I don't just mean adding a vague sentence here and there, I mean completely review the suggestion and make the changes people are saying to make. Add detail to everything, remove that last part trying to control what people are saying in the comments, explain what you actually want this material to do.
As I said before, if you really don't want the criticism, then don't post the suggestion, it's that simple. You post your suggestion, it's going to get criticism, no matter what, and that's something you are going to have to deal with. Not everyone is going to like your suggestion, especially when there is so much missing from it.
See, this is what I don't think you're getting. for a good suggestion, or reply to a suggestion, you need detail. You can't have detail without length, which is what I'm trying to explain to you. Your suggestion is 17 dot points. If your suggestion had the detail that it needed, I wouldn't be able to write a reply longer than the suggestion itself. You've even had a moderator come in here and tell you that trying to control people's responses is unreasonable, but you seem to be completely ignoring that as well.
You also still don't seem to understand that my long replies are only warranted by the fact that you are just disregarding most of the feedback from comments. You are yet to properly address any of the responses that this suggestion has had, most likely because you are ignoring most of them because you they are't complete support for this idea. I've said it before and I'll say it again; people are going to criticize your suggestion, that's why these suggestion forums exist. You either need to accept that criticism and change your suggestion accordingly, or don't post the suggestion at all.
I'm Not going to reply to every comment. I'm going to read some and think about them then edit my suggestion. (: I Promise I Read Every Comment And Think About Them, Even If I Do Not Reply To Them

I don't exactly see a point. It's too rare and has too little uses, uses which are unimportant and already taken by other, much more common items.

This is a bad idea. It has no use for tools or armor and is basically just a rarer version of Lapis Lazuli like other users said.
