Maps don't really have much of a function in Minecraft. I know, I know, they're fun to use and allow you to see the terrain around you. But be honest: how often does a map really help you? It only shows the top layer of an area, and it's hard to see specific details such as ore. So how about we make it a little more interesting? How about adding a way to see mobs on the map?
The idea is this: a {MapColor:} tag that can be added to entities. What this does is it causes that entity to show up on a map in an X shape. Default is {MapColor:none} , and the possible values would be {MapColor:red} , {MapColor:blue} , {MapColor:dark_green} , and so on. I don't know anything about making maps, but I think those who do could use this, possibly to mark objectives or checkpoints on a map.
