Every tool should have damage, but lesser. It seems weird that piercing a zombies skin with a sharp hoe won't damage it much.
2.The Spear

THAT is a spear. Spears can do 3 hearts each attack. It has a longer reach, making it good to keep the distance, or to get close. Spears can be thrown, dealing two hearts and has having slight delay before firing. That makes spears Balanced medium-long range.
3.Certain items can be thrown or damage
Holding flint deals 1.5 damage! Arrows can do the same at melee. It can be thrown in a short distance, and deals 1 damage.
4.Wounding.
If you hit an opponents hands, his damage will be reduced. If you hit his legs, he will crawl, which is slow. Hitting his head and chest deals large damage. Wounds can be healed by healing potions

This can let people do realistic damage and get to actually practice their skills.

Well, I like the spears, and the ability to do more damage with tools. Maybe certain tools damage certain mobs more? A pickaxe could crack the spiney armour of a spider, the hoe could pierce a zombie, the axe would chop bones and the shovel would bash the crap out of a creeper. AND DON'T MENTION THE MOBS I FORGOT :tongue.gif: Like ghasts. They don't count. I reckon flint should do more damage than a normal block, but less than arrows. I like that you can throw arrows, too, but make sure they're weaker and more short-ranged than when fired. This gives a better use to feathers and flint, when you don't have string for a bow. I don't like the idea of wounding the enemy, it'd make it too easy. One hit to the legs and they can't escape, a hit to the arms and they're as strong as a kitten and a few headshots for the kill. Maybe hits to the head should do more damage than normal, though. Twang, headshot.

you should think of Damage Types, Such as Crushing, Piercing, and slashing. Armorsand Mobs should have different strengths against each.
Give the spear a recipie for each type of matereal/ore
and give some Enchantments for the Spear
Make more weapons.
