whenever i make a mob spawner i always run into the problem that i cant move the spawner. even if the item was very expensive it would still be worth it.
Either way, there literally isn't anything else here other than "I can't move this, we should be able to".
How? What suggestion do you have to attempt and balance this fact that making this possible would allow people to more easily build massive farms, or traps where mass amounts of mob spawners are places to spawn mass amounts of mobs out?
Farming for anything would be extremely easy if you could just mash 10 spawners next to each other, and trolling players by hiding 100 of them in their house or something would be a huge issue on multiplayer.
There's barely even a suggestion here. No thanks, we shouldn't be able to pick up that zombie spawner and plant that grinder right next to our mansions.

Build your own mob grinder. It produces many more mobs much much faster than the spawner blocks. The purpose of a spawner block is to have a small group of mobs protecting the chests and to harass you just a little bit to make you earn the chests.
I don't think it has ever gotten easier to make a mob grinder in Minecraft since dungeons were first introduced. Minecraft's dev team has no interest in making mob grinders easy to make. Dungeons were quite common in Beta, and I'm pretty sure that their huge drop in frequency was closely related to the balance change that happened when grinders became common knowledge.
This isn't going to happen, and I don't think it should. Pick a modpack that gives you that ability.

Agreed. Leggolessed, if you are going to say something like "even if the item was very expensive it would still be worth it." then please provide an example of just how expensive and in what way it would be expensive. As your "suggestion" stands, you have no more than a vague idea.
But aside from this, I actually thought picking up and moving spawners was a GREAT idea back when I only just started playing Minecraft and found my first spawner. But now that I have much more experience of the game I can honestly say that such an ability would be way too OP in single player and extremely problematic in multiplayer, no matter how expensive.
I played a seed once which had a zombie dungeon inside a small, easily accessed hill less than 50 blocks from spawn. Find something like that if you want to play with a spawner without a major search. Part of the attractive thing about dungeons is how hard they generally are to find. There's no need to be able to move them around.

I was just responding to Machinasa, trying to teach him a little lesson about how this is unbalanced. Besides, he's the one who revived the thread (which, according to forum rules, isn't officially dead yet, since it's been posted on recently).

Silk touch does not work on spawners.
Anyways, having movable spawners would be OP for reasons already stated. It would be too easy to make mob farms, and too easy to troll.

You can't mine spawners with silk touch. spawners will not drop their item even with a silk touch pickaxe
I agree with this post. There should be an expensive, consumable item that allows you to pick up a spawner. That would be balanced. Full support.
Mojang doesn't like grinders like making a grinder out of a zombie spawner. If anything, or at ALL, they wouldn't make a way to pick up spawners.

What if for each mob spawn it cost a certain amount?
It would still be unbalanced, as the grinder you make with these spawners will quickly pay for whatever they cost.
