And here's why.......it seems like mod developers have now formed a dependent relationship on Mojang with these weekly snapshot announcements. I hadn't realised, but what I am seeing is an unwillingness to update due to weekly snapshot potential changes that might happen. It used to be the excuse back with 1.8, that they will wait for the new update, which sounded as though the mod developers just wanted to wait for one more update again. I thought fair enough. But now it seems like weekly snapshots prevent them from updating because "somthing could change". This dependency isn't helpful to the development community. Without realising it and unwittingly, they have formed a dependent relationship that allows them to put off making changes "...until the next (snapshot/update), whatever reason fits the need." I've seen a lot of they don't like change and don't 'feel the need' to update opinions from them.
Well we just updated, and typically mods work for whatever version of minecraft it is.
For example, from what I remember, you could use Ender IO from 1.6.3 if you were using 1.6.4.
The combat update was a big one because it changed core mechanics as opposed to just adding stuff in, and we've known about this update for a while, which is fairly good reasoning for mod makers to hold off.
Forge would actually take LONGER to update this way.
Lets say an update takes a month. Snapshots are (Usually) released once a week, every Wednesday.
So, during January, an update is being made.
We can: Get a snapshot weekly, so the release in February is more stable, due to the mass community testing and reporting bugs, then wait until March for Forge to update
OR
We can: Get no snapshots whatsoever January, get a buggy final release February, and get constant minor updates through February to fix those bugs as they're reported (Or just wait a bit then fix them all at once, which would still take the same amount of time), then wait during March for a forge release in April.
Lawl......I think this went out of date in 1.8......because 1.9 is annoying and finnicky. You see it's spam-clicking still, but slower so you have to watch a tiny white sword regen every 1 second (at least it can be remedied by simply increasing damage of sword and axe types so spam-clicking works still.)
Do you? Well, youre not Mojang. So you cant tell mojang what YOU want.
I read what the community likes to mod into the game. I also can see a variety of opportunities to enhance it, myself based on the variety of suggestions and mods out there. I've also played the game and know a few things that are annoying to the player that could be improved.

What you want is probably not what the community wants. If you look at PVP, you have the same people complaining, but it looks like they are the majority, even though they are the minority. And tell me, what does your knowledge about "what the community wants" have to do with "what Mojang knows"?
If they are a minority with those extremely long threads throughout the 1.9 development, then how did they get the idea from <0.1% that spam-clicking is bad? Point me to a 200 page long thread saying spamclicking is bad. What is the word for that number of <0.1% who convinced them it should be changed
I know what the community wants and what would benefit Minecraft.
No, you don't. The fact that you claim to know only proves that you have no idea. You don't speak for me.
Technically speaking Ive played the game longer than a good 95% of people. If anything I should know what the community wants, but I am not so crass the even entertain such a stupid idea that I would speak for the community as a whole.
Now, do you need a stool to help you get down from that high-horse of yours?

Cast aside your festive doylaks: dragon stuff is about to happen.
Multiplayer is lonely once you understand how it actually works.
Look at Reddit. Look at the people giving reasons why 1.9 PVP isn't bad in those "PVP will die" threads.
I think that is more manufactured than honest. You see it doesn't appear here, so it's not uniform. It could easily be put down to fanboy and Mojang associates giving blind praise.
There is no reason to post a "PVP won't die" thread if you don't have a problem. The loudest parts are 1.9 PVP "haters", but loud doesn't mean majority. If the forums and reddit were filled with "PVP will die" threads and they were all by different people and supported by different people, then that would be a majority. However, they are not. Those "200 page long" threads have the problem of X of them are the same person, Y is someone with a different stance, etc.
Anyways, we need to get back on topic.
Hold up now. In the first post you say it's a minority because of a unrepresented majority who don't post. And then when I point out here there is a large majority, you say it doesnn't count because the majority posts elsewhere on reddit etc.
In that case, I will state there is an unrepresented majority on reddit etc who are not saying what they think and your examples are a minority on reddit
Snapshots are crucial as Mojang can gather community feedback from the snapshots and make changes if necessary. Bugs can also be stomped out during the process and it keeps the community engaged while waiting for the next update.
Otherwise, if snapshots were abolished, it is very likely that the update itself would have issues, thus prolonging the wait for updates to mods since Mojang would need to roll out multiple updates to fix the issues present first.
look. snapshots are NOT RECOMMENDED to play, they are put out there to be TESTED and REPORT BUGS . To PLAY minecraft use the latest stable release. That's all that most mod writers support the latest stable release. some do support the snapshots. but you are under no obligation to use the snapshots, that's why they are developer SNAPSHOTS to let people see what they are working on and to report bugs quicker rather than only finding out when they RELEASE the next version. that's it pure and simple. there are players out there still using older versions, you DON'T have to update at allk if you don't want to. Mod writers don't have to update their mods either..
Help to develop the release version (thousands of players can play and detect more bugs than seven or eights developers).
Mojang are quite rich as I understand it, off Minecraft, so the community doing them a favour and testing it is strictly not necessary, as a paid set could bug test.

5, 10, even 100 bug testers are not going to be as efficient as 100,000 or even a million people. Insinuating that they should do all their bug testing internally is short sighted.

There's no way to predict how a program will react on a system until you have actually played it on that system. If 1.000 people play a snapshot, that's a 1.000 different computers running that snapshot, and a lot of flexibility testing for that snapshot. Performance enhancements would be nonexistent if Mojang only tested snapshots on their own computers, because the game would only be optimized for the specific setup Mojang uses.
Same goes for bugtesting. 1.000 people playing the game each in their own unique way will find obscure bugs a lot faster then 5 Swedes playing around with their own program for a few hours. Just take a look at any update log. How many of those bugs do you think you would've found by playing like you normally would?
Bugtesting is painfull for developers. Thats why snapshot released.
I AM a developer for my electronic display project. At first, it seem there is no bug for me. But shortly after i sell it, THEY complaint about a bug tha i never notice. Customer is the king.
