You know that doors, fences, fence gates, and stairs have different kinds of wood like birch and spruce? Well why forget ladders when you forget the rest. Of corse there would be a new crafting recipe (In Attachments). This would go great because you can build a birch house and ladders. The ladders could also be a very good detailer in the house. You will get 4 ladders like normal btw. What do you think.
A done-before suggestion, but a sensible one. You don't need to type every suggestion in large letters...

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.
Support. In the end, nearly all wood-based blocks should have color variants. But I'm not sure having a block of wood to represent the rungs makes total sense. Oh well. Stranger recipes have been implemented.
Unsupported; I don't see what purpose these would have aesthetically other than bothering you that your birch ladders don't stack with your oak ladders from that one time when you ran out of oak wood and ended up with one single birch ladder left over afterwards. Plus, it would be hard to make the textures look right due to the texture being made up of very thin lines. I also don't really know anyone who uses ladders in general building, I find that they have no place inside a house if you can fit a staircase in; they are annoying to have too because your player moves along them slowly, both up and down -wards.

Plus, it would be hard to make the textures look right due to the texture being made up of very thin lines Not really like ladders are in the game already so I could be easily done by a texture change. I also don't really know anyone who uses ladders in general building me, I find that they have no place inside a house if you can fit a staircase in Ladders are meant to be less useful but less expensive; they are annoying to have too because your player moves along them slowly, both up and down -wards These are your problems so I can't really say anything.

Any build that it can help, it will help. People will find a use, even if a clear cut use is not found.
I would love to use a birch ladder in my dark oak home as window shudders, personally.
Free floating metal ladders would be nice too.
Also, support.
My issue is that this tends more towards extreme niche building and not general building. "People will find a use" is not an assumption I'm willing to support a suggestion for.
Well, with the dropping in water thing you still need to get UP! otherwise you are therefore stuck in your strip mine for the rest of your life. And I wasn't raging on that, I was just pointing out that that would be annoying. And about the texture, if you look at it the texture of the ladder is only two pixels thick all around, which might make it kind of hard. Also, if you only have, say, jungle wood to work with and no other trees inside where you've explored so far in your world, if you make a jungle planks wall you then have to put up with a ladder of the exact same colour; which makes the current ladders better in this aspect as they look good and are visible on pretty much every block in the game. Plus, ladders are NOT decorational blocks (in most cases), so why do we need more options? Give me an example of where it would look good, because I am clueless.
Cool idea! I'll use ladders more often (because the now ladder is ugly in dark/bright themed building). Maybe add some pics. I can offer a help but right now i'm developing my own suggestion so sorry. But you can ask someone else doing that.

Why leave out sticks? Different types of sticks would allow you to not have to change the recipe so much and would also allow you to better customize tools.

It's always bugged me that ladders don't have different wood types.

What does this help, aesthetically? What kind of construction needs this kind of detailing?
