I didn't start the flame war. People were already hating.
But honestly Diamond Miner I am sorry I have not addressed your concern.
I have already posted a paragraph on this concern specifically, not only this but that poll is the only method I have of getting feedback, so sorry if you hate me and accuse me of trying to spread evil lies . I will update as that poll is seen, and I will also hold other straw polls If I can, but I'm sorry if I lack the number of sources for how much people support my idea.
I think you are looking for this paragraph Diamond Miner. Please don't hate on me for using a poll, I wonder how many other people at least try to figure out how many people like their ideas? I am sorry that I can't have a million person poll on whether or not it would be done, but I am doing everything I can to. You should be looking for this paragraph.
Realism
The very first comment I have gotten on this thread was about how it may not work well due to console versions currently being behind PC's, and that is a very viable concern. It is worth mentioning though that since December 18th of this year, they have updated Xbox One and Play Station 4 Minecraft with many of the blocks from 1.8 like Andesite, which just came it in 1.8 from PC, and now they added Dark Oak plus Acacia trees to the console editions as well, almost making the editions have equal ground, "with the exception of the custom map editor added in 1.8." Microsoft doing this so early shows that they are willing to update Xbox Minecraft to be on Par with PC Minecraft, and as of now the only reason why the worlds aren't infinite yet isn't because of console power, but the absence of a need for them. Granted, chances are the first release would be fairly buggy, things almost always are, but then again, bugs almost always get fixed, It isn't like we are still playing Alpha Minecraft, nor will we play the Alpha version of the new server either.
I didn't start the flame war. People were already hating.

What.... Flamewar?
This is called criticism. I.e: Why we think your idea is good/bad, and sometimes what to do to improve it.
No one is starting a flamewar here. Criticism is different from blatant hate.
As for jcm's, his concerns are the only ones that I have yet to be able to answer. I am not a game developer myself, and since no one else has done research on this topic yet, I have no secondary sources, and it will be extremely difficult to find someone working within Microsoft specifically on Minecraft on whether or not it would be extremely resource demanding to the point where it would be impractical. I will try though, it is a heck of a lot harder to figure out whether or not something could be done than should.
Due to differences in platform features, and platform networks, I'm not sure a "cross-platform" server would work. However, I'm all for the idea of two massive servers for Xbox players and Sony Players.

There's a big difference between flame war / hating and criticism. Criticism is when someone points out flaws with your idea / point and raises points as to why your idea / point is flawed. Flaming / hate is basically pointing out flaws without having anything backing it. Everything I've read in this thread is genuine criticism; the inability to connect multiple platforms together, the unrealistic ideas behind the server, etc, and everything that's been said has been explained. Hating would be along the lines of "THIS SUGGESTION SUCKS!!!!! IT'S BAD AND YOU SHOULD FEEL BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!" No one here has done that (and I hope no one here does that).
Also I'm pretty sure no one accused you of spreading lies, more so jumping the gun and claiming that because 80% of people who voted support your idea, therefore the majority think your idea is good and feasible. I don't think this thread, nor the poll, has been alive long enough to draw conclusions from the results of a single poll. Wait like a week or so for a wider selection of votes to work out whether the average is support or not. On top of that just because someone supports it doesn't mean it will happen, many people support traveling faster than the speed of light but it is not possible to travel faster than c (the speed of light), or even close to it considering the average person's mass. Just because people support your idea doesn't mean the problems that have been talking about will magically stop preventing your idea from happening.
We're giving you criticism, not hate, and as such you should take the criticism we give you and apply it to the suggestion (as per what you're doing). When you think of a way around the problem I brought up (I honestly don't think you will, but still), add it to the OP so people who are reading know that you have your suggestion fleshed out and planned.

Thank you jcm, I have finally found an answer to this issue. Please keep up the criticism, it improves my plan more and more. btw that Flame war thing was meant as a joke, all of the posts were reminding me of a college humor video about pointless insults on threads, "not your posts."
What About the API and networking Differences?
This was straight from another website, I did not type this on my own, I take credit for using this answer in this instance, but not righting the actually paragraph, "Most of the game's code would be very similar. The biggest differences would appear in the code associated with file systems, memory management, rendering, and sound because the APIs are different. That refers to client-sided code differences, I'm talking about networking, of which you didn't mention. Even then, you didn't mention a potential fix for it, you just talked about the differences between each edition of the game. Where one uses Sockets, it cannot interface with another that uses Netty, for instance. Unless you translate to a custom standard, which adds overhead and can cause performance problems, especially with lots of traffic being handled by the server.
Even then that answer is kinda wrong, as a BIG portion of the code of a game deals with things like file management, memory management, rendering and sound. You'd potentially be rewriting a third or so of a decently coded game, and most of Minecraft, if you moved from OpenGL to Direct3D.
As it stands, you haven't provided a fix or workaround for the problem I have pointed out.

Yeah, they added 1.8 stuff. They're also missing stuff from 1.7, 1.6 and prior. It's not an argument, the other versions are way behind and this won't work.

Also, just need to comment, Microsoft isn't behind any of the development. Microsoft and Mojang are merely business partners, Microsoft handles things like finances, marketing, generally the more business-y things. Mojang are still in charge of developing PC and PE, 4J are behind the console editions.

Microsoft is against cross-platform servers for games, so there is no possibility for a cross-platform server since Mojang would most likely not make such a larger server if they can't get ALL the versions on it. Whether Nintendo would support it is also an issue, since playing with such a wide amount of players would definitely mean that not-so-happy things would be there as well, no matter how well you moderate.
There won't ever be a cross-platform server, because the sheer amount of complications (such as the large amount of different versions that would have to work together) makes it impractical. Mojang and Microsoft have never shown any interest in even trying to make something like that, so it's unlikely they'd ever want to try.
The poll also doesn't matter, because you'd need a large sample rate for it to even be slightly valid, and even then Mojang isn't stupid enough to just blindly do what the users want with no regards to anything else, otherwise they would've added in guns, furniture, and all sorts of other stupid crap that a large amount of people want.
Technical considerations aside, I would love a non-instanced mega server with thousands of players in the same world. Actually it's something that I really hope to be able to see in my life. That would be the ultimate sandbox experience.
That's nothing new though. World of Warcraft was released in 2004, most notably, and some other MMOs came before that. There is some instancing, but whole continents can be open, and so could worlds if only for the fact few games see a reason why. People tend to dislike swimming oceans.
So for the rest of the editions to my proposal, should most of it be based off of could than should? Or do I still need to worry about the should part?
Look guys, I am not an expert on Minecraft mechanics and online server mechanics, really just someone with a small knowledge of Minecraft with an idea. If you have a concern, and want me to respond to it, please help me out and research it as well. An API is kinda like an interface, or a set of exposed functions, that a program can use to communicate with another set of already written code that does something. If you think about the program as a person, and the underlying code / systems as say a kettle or a programmable fridge, then an API is kinda like the buttons on the front of it that you press. You call the methods / functions that the API provides which in turn does other things internally. The problem with this is each platform has it's own API, or set of functions, that are exclusive to that platform, and so each platform does things differently and that's what you, as the OP of this suggestion, have to think about and try to invent a way around.
I've already provided one workaround, the problem with that one is it's rather inefficient, and in this sort of scenario efficiency is absolutely required. You as the suggester have the job of trying to work out other workarounds and fixes to the problems we highlight. We just provide critique and feedback on your idea, we don't invent the idea for you.

Full Support ! Though I'd like that mods would be available for everyone, not so over-powered ones like Star Wars though,it may contain several universes like Jurassic Park/World,MITE,Tekkit,a default, and maybe even a mega-universe-thing that contains a bunch of good mods as '' Gamemodes '' or something.
There can even be self-installing shaders, for those who want it .
For all of you people wondering how Cross Compatibility could be worked out, I have no idea how. Fortunately, Microsoft does and is working on it! Thank you for your suggestions on what I should add to the thread, here is the latest section. Off topic sorry I haven't answered concerns for so long, got Fallout 4 December 21st and binged it really until a couple days ago, which is when I relapsed with Minecraft on Xbox, "One this time."
P.S. I deleted the thread titled API and networking difference,. realized later that it was irrelevant, this answers the same concerns though.
Realism Specific To Cross-Compatibility
According to an ign article, Microsoft and Mojang are already planning to add cross-platform Minecraft. So far they already have mobile/PC gameplay, and according to the article, they plan on adding it to Xbox One as well. So, for all of you people who wanted me to find a way to work out how to work cross platform, Microsoft is already doing it.

This is only for the Windows 10 edition, it's not possible to have cross-compatibility on any other version. The reason why it's only for the Win10 edition is because Windows 10 is supported by both PC, mobile and the Xbox One. No other platform and no other OS will work. So this still doesn't solve the cross-platform-compatibility issue I brought up.

jcm, I don't really feel like adding this to the actual initial writing because that would be just overkill. The key is that they have proven capable and willing to rework systems to be more suited for cross-platform gaming. Nothing anyone can say or do can completely solve all compatibility issues, heck, the windows 7 computer I was just on doesn't have a recent enough graphics card to run 1.7.2. There will be those exceptions, those that can't play Minecraft with other platforms. This is just the first step in cross-platform gameplay, keep in mind that for some more months windows 10 will be free for most people with windows computers, therefore for the most part only excluding those with macintosh, and sadly, playstation. Keep in mind that if PlayStation does jump onto the cross-platform wagon, it would most likely be able to have compatibility as well. This has not been promised though, the same can be said for Macintosh. Thank you for addressing this concern, and until more news comes out, I can't honestly say that there would be cross-compatibility for these platforms. Even if these devices can never have cross-compatibility, according to Microsoft, over 200 million devices are running windows 10, so even without those other platforms, I am sure you can agree that this server could have a very large player base.
I didn't start the flame war. People were already hating.
