So, i somehow think this might be obvious, but, aside from having a GUI to make custom presets (that it had, but somehow it got removed)
You should be able to have more than a single biome in a superflat world, and to let you choose what biomes you'd like in.
Or at the very least, have the option (in the preset code) to let you turn the default biome generation on.
Even having code to allow Cave Generation.
Not to be rude, but the Superflat freature is almost not finished, and isnt even that hard to do, i mean, a code generator for the gui, is just buttons, that adds or substracts text, a single employee could do that in a single day, theres countless of them on the internet, would it be that crazy to think that its so much useful to do it In-game on the go?
But then to the Only-A-Biome-Per-World thing, i think its nessesary for a list of reasons, first off, given that the purpose of superflat is testing, theres a lot of things you really cant do, like some redstone stuff with ice that needs to have a Non-Freezing area right next to it, or having some MOBS naturally spawning like ocelots and slimes. Or if for some reason you need some structures from different biomes spawning... I mean, i know you can go manually change the Level.dat and go generate some more terrain, or even changing parts of already-generated terrain to be a specific biome (im not sure if you need the mc edit commands to do that tho) so the workarrounds about a potentially important freature are for now a little bit akward
Plus, if this is added, we could even play survival on superflat, i've tried this different times, and even when we now have the decoration, stronghold, village and etc.. options, it gets boring kinda fast if you dont have Caves to explore or different biomes to *for example* get some snow for a snowgolem, or having one tree thats not an oak.
Id reeally like to see this implemented, but i feel that with 1.9 being so close even if they actually see this they might not even care about this, as i imagine them being really loaded with work, the thing with this is that is very very simple stuff, it wouldnt be too hard to implement, theres already mods for these things but they arent being updated, i think what we reeally need is this to become part of vanilla minecraft, who's with me?
As far as I know there is no point for this to be added. You can do whatever you wish to and in a superflat world, generate anything you need.
What would be the point of playing survival on a superflat world? There is none, a superflat world is for testing. Whether it be redstone or building or anything else you can think of. I can't think of any reasons you would need those things you listed, why would you need naturally spawning mobs when you can control how they spawn, when, and for whatever purpose you need?

Why would we need anything in the game, or the game itself? You can literally mention anything in the game and say "We don't need this!" because we simply don't.
Superflat worlds also aren't meant entirely for testing, just like for the rest of the game, it's for whatever you want it to be for, there is no strict rule saying "You can only test things here, no survival!"
Most of these are for convenience, really. Superflat survival is also a really popular challenge in the community, so allowing more variables to the superflat generation would be a big plus to the community.
This adds no harm to the game, and I kinda always wanted this, so support.

If you'd want to manually change the biome you'd need to download MCEdit, or go manually change the level.dat settings and go generate some new chunks, both methods are clunky and not intuitive, plus, you kinda cant generate caves.
As for the GUI, the Superflat freature seems kinda unfinished, as if you want to customize a preset you'd have to go to the internet and use some fanmade text generator, or, remember what the BlockID's you want plus all of the tags and then type them without any spelling errors, witch you wont do if you're not a seasoned MC player.
Btw, you could need naturally spawning biome specific mobs if you're testing out farm designs, i mean, you could create a new world, biomes are an important part of minecraft and affects a lot of things, so it wouldnt unreasonable to think you might need 2 biomes together.
Then, for superflat survival, i had a server like that for a bit (3 or so weeks) with some friends and it actually was pretty fun and the building of things was kinda faster because we didnt need to adapt terrain for our base, but then, you are really restricted when it comes to getting alot of items or blocks, and also, with only branch-mining available (and some mineshafts) long term play wasnt that great (we knew it was a temporal thing, but we could have keep going for a long time if we had at least SOMETHING to explore) but while it lasted, it was really interesting and fun.
As far as I know there is no point for this to be added. You can do whatever you wish to and in a superflat world, generate anything you need.
What would be the point of playing survival on a superflat world? Because there are people who build survival maps in superflat worlds and this would let the leaves and grass be the correct color, let slimes spawn in swamps, and much more. There is none, a superflat world is for testing. Whether it be redstone or building or anything else you can think of. While there is no definite need for anything to be implemented in the game (which I did not say), there are points, and you have made a couple.
It had not dawned on me that people might actually play survival on a superflat world, to me it seems dull and lacking in depth so I wrongly assumed that it's really only for testing. I know Minecraft holds no rules, I simply didn't see the appeal of doing anything other than testing or drafting in it.
I still don't think I'll be trying a superflat survival anytime soon, likely never, but considering the popularity among the community, I'll support it.

Im happy you guys are liking this so far, however i'd like to clarify that this isnt only about playing survival on the flatlands, i feel that the current way Superflat is working is just veeery non user friendly and needs to be fixed
(pd. anyway having the possibility to play superflat survival would be sweeeet)

why would we need natural biome generation, when you can already choose the biome you start out in the settings of superflat
You... read the entire thread, right? He gave reasons. If that's not enough, look at my earlier post on here for more reasons.
But here's a few more; ....Beecauusee we'd want more than one biome?
You're basically saying we'd only ever need one biome in superflat lands. Maybe users would like the variety of biomes, so they can have more variety of blocks in say, a superflat challenge, or maybe they're building an adventure map, and would like it to contain multiple biomes at a time?
why would we need natural biome generation, when you can already choose the biome you start out in the settings of superflat
"The biome" - that's just ONE biome; what if you want a Superflat world with more than one biome? Yes, you can approximate Superflat in Customized but you can't get it perfectly flat or customize the individual layers.
Also, not only should Superflat be able to have caves, they should be customizeable just like other structures and this customization ported over to Customized. It is actually surprising that Mojang did not think of this when making the Customized world type - as the Wiki shows, you can actually change how common villages, mineshafts, and all the lot are - even ocean monuments (which were added long after the other options) and the number of strongholds (changed to 128 in 1.9 but you could also do this in Superflat in older versions).
Maybe I should give them some help since they seem clueless as to how caves and other stuff even work (even though they did change them in 1.7 so cave systems are much smaller and less concentrated; the Wiki is also out of date on the mineshaft chance, which was reduced to 0.004 in 1.7):
I had asked MogMiner back when the customized options came out if we could get some settings to tweak the cave generation and he said it wasn't possible currently.
That said, adding caves to Superflat would require changing how the game generates the chunks; I myself made a mod that added them in a hackish way, during the chunk population phase instead of initial chunk generation, but that resulted in some bugs and required a specially modified copy of the cave generator; however, that shouldn't be too hard to do (basically, during normal world generation chunk data is written to an array which is then passed to the cave generator, which carves out caves, then the data is converted to the normal block data. Superflat bypasses this step, making normal caves impossible to add). Biomes would also be easy to add, at least if they are just like those in a normal world (the ability to select just a few biomes and have them generate like they normally do would require more coding, but there are mods which have done this as well).
In fact, such a Superflat world can be created by using the default world chunk provider and bypassing the normal methods that generate the height noise, then filling in the desired layers; I've done this to make world generation much faster so I can easily generate a lot of chunks for testing purposes while having caves and normal biomes (with only caves and a basic Superflat-like world with no decoration I can generate a 4000x4000 world in a few minutes).
I have seen a bug in 1.1 where superflat terrain can generate on a default world if you had just been playing on a superflat world. When this happens, there are multiple biomes, but it is outdated and boring.
In that case, I support your addition.

4 years ago, I started played MCPE/Minecraft in general. Now, I have MCPC, and I'm still not bored of the blocky sandbox indie. Cuz awesomeness! Got a problem with that?
I'd support this.
I'm playing around with designing and playing Skyblock maps.
Naturally, I'm using superflat setting with air and so forth.
While it's easy to drop into mcedit and manually add other biomes, I really enjoy playing skyblock more than creating the map.
On generation, I can make these maps with biome specific structures and stuff like strongholds and floating villages.
This is really neat because it puts a lot of surprise into these maps and I could theoretically pop a standard skyblock setup in there, empty and prep my nether, and get going, but the fact that it will always be specific to a single biome throughout the ENTIRE world *does* suck a lot of the fun and utility out of making maps that way.
that isn't true! if you play modded or have a laggy computer, regular worlds can give you around 1-10 fps! i want to playmc without it being a power point! superflat worlds are great but i want to be able to play in them, without biomes it's hard to play mods like forestry or other mods!

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
