have u ever gone into a dark cave and u have no torches well what if light stone with some other materials could be used to create a flashlight that can bright up a small amount of area for you to see and a meter on the side of the screen to determine how much juice it has left and the ability to turn it off/on to conserve energy

If facebook, Myspace, and Twitter were all destroyed, 90% of teens would go insane. If you're one of the 10% that would be laughing at them, copy this into your signature and hope it happens.
they use simple coding to make it so whatever block your stadnding on its equivalant to a torch being there
i wonder why notch hasnt implemented it into the game already its a pretty good idea mods im afraid of screwing up on so i just hope he implements them any way

Flashlight java coding is near impossible. Especially in this game, the most notch can do is the moving torch, but thats pretty low class. It just doesn't add to the game, I mean how would u make it?
Draw a line, Say, 8 blocks along the player's view point. The air "blocks" intersected by this line are lit to a certain light level, From there, Lighting proceeds as per norm.
