Potions and other drinks have been brought up many times. Well this thread is a full idea of brewing and fermenting drinks.
Brewing Process:
First, you need a fermenting barrel. []
The barrel menu would look like this:
There are three slots for ingredients, and one slot for the outcome.
There are three stages of brewing drinks.
Stage one:
The first stage is ingredients and water. You can place items in the three slots, a bucket of water in the slot below the arrow, then the fermenting stage will commence.
Stage two:
The second stage is fermenting. This would take about a half to a whole day. It is this long so people can't easily stock up on tons of stat-boosting drinks. The arrow will slowly fill in to show progress of fermenting.
Stage three:
The third stage is bottling. Bottle crafting recipe: []
You would click the bottle to the mixture in the righthand box, and it would fill the bottle with it. A bottle is like a bucket. When the drink is drank, the bottle will be returned empty. Using a bottle is the only way to recieve the drink.
Drink Recipes:
(Ingredients can be in any order)
Life Potion:
Red Mushroom
Wheat
Slime Ball
Heals all hearts. Not stackable. Can't consume anything else for 5 minutes.
Adrenaline Potion:
String
Feather
Sugar
Give you 150% movement speed for one minutes. Take 150% more damage though.
Stone Skin Potion:
Iron Ingot
Bone
Smooth Stone
The next 3 hits you take do half damage. You have half movement speed though.
Featherweight Potion:
Feather
Sapling
Wool
You have double jump height for two minutes. You take 150% regular damage and 150% pushback though.
Ale:
Sugar
Red Mushroom
Bonemeal
Heals 5 hearts, and gives you a drunk effect. You slip around like you're always on ice, and your vision is blurred.
Herbicide:
Gunpowder
Brown Mushroom
Flint
10 uses. Spray it on a plant to make it start to decompose. Every 2 seconds, it would break a random block of the tree/cactus/other plant. Only 1/2 resources are dropped from this.
Fresh Air Elixer:
Rose
Yellow Flower
Sapling
Restores all of your oxygen. Can only be used once underwater, you'd have to surface before using another one.
Surge Coating:
Redstone
Redstone
Redstone
Any wires or electic objects you touch will be activated/powered. Lasts for 3 minutes.
Roof Jumper Potion:
Wool
Iron or + shoes
Bed
Take 2 hearts less fall damage than you normally do. Lasts 3 minutes.
Notes: Only one effect potion could be in effect at a time.
I like it but the examples you give are too overpowered
Health Potion is ok, but we have golden apples, maybe it could heal more hearts than porc-chops but less than a golden apple
Speed Potion, again ok but overpowered, maybe like 110 to 175% speed
Thick Skin, too overpowered again, how about damage is reduced by 1/2 or 1/4 or 1/8 of what would normally be taken, or something like that
and I would love all the options there would be (how many would be craft-able)
Just pure awsomeness, and nice image (must take some time to make)
P.S. for the potions rethink what you need to craft them though skin leather, leather, leather (maybe have it tiered) and I think all of them should involve water or some kind of liquid (water or liquid magma?)
You come up with the best ideas (so far I've only seen 2 lol)

I like it !
Imma starting my brewery now !
nah seriously I'd like to be able to make differents drinks, adds diversity to the game and that cannot be bad !
i would add a water bucket necessity to brew every drink tho
I like the thick skin potion but not the other ones unfortunately...
the heal potion is a little too much overpowered.. I mean you can find flowers everywhere, if you have seeds you have infinite and red mushrooms are kinda abundant in the nether. I would put pumpkin instead of rose
speed potion is not really original.. sorry I don't like it
I would probably say something like mastery potion ? increase the effectiveness of every tool by 25% for the next day
red mushroom
brown mushroom
iron?
I would like to see a sheep abusing potion too (don't mind the name hehe )
potion that you put on a already harvested sheep, fwoop instantely grows wool on it again, and if you use it on a ready-to-harvest sheep, when you will punch it, the sheep will drop the maximum wool it could (3 is the max I think ?)
wheat
wheat
bonemeal
maybe a glow in the dark potion, light yourself with slightly less than a torch lighting for 10 minutes
lightstone dust
seed
flower
and also, for my personnal fun, coloured full sugar drinks ( ooh so much fun :] )
heals 4 hearts, pretty basic but would be placeable for a nice counter with drinks :wink.gif:
sugar
sugar
dye
voila, these are the things I had to say :smile.gif:
lol maybe there could be after effects for some potions
, and yeah that would be cool a "fuel" slot for liquids :wink.gif:, but you would have to be there and wait for it to craft unlike furnaces where you could leave and come back and it's done

As people suggested earlier, these drinks could have some kind of penalty. After drinking one, you would have to wait a while until you can drink the next. Depending on the drink, there would be a minor penalty. For example, the one that makes you be more resilient to attacks would make you move more slowly.
I like the idea of the speed potion. It would be especially useful when die in a far off area and need to get your stuff back in a hurry (or if you're just in a hurry). However, I don't like the idea of using pumpkins for healing potions. They're hard to find and it's easier just to carry a whole bunch of wheat with you and craft bread when you need it.
Felt like making a reply but I'm not sure where to start.
First off, I like the idea but I'm disapointed with the way you've suggested it.
Why potions in the first place?
Every semi-fantasy game has it in one form or another and they all suck.
I say you make ale in tankards or something and the ale looks different depending on what you brew it with.
I'd like to blab on about something but I'm too tired and lazy so for now so could you add a suggestion for Ale or something because for a 'Brewing Drinks and Potions' I only see potions and not much of what I expected drink-wise.
I was originally gonna add for fun drinks, but whats the point of a drink if it doesn't do anything?
The names of the drinks are too plain, like instead of speed, name it
Adrenaline Potion.
You move faster and take extra damage, it makes sense. And instead of Thick skin, make it Stone Skin, because it sounds cooler.
And you should only be able to be under the effect of one drink at a time. Depending on the drink is how long you have to wait before you drink any other potion.
Also, balance the heal potion with something like: During these 5 minutes, you cannot consume anything else. As if the drink had some side effect on your stomach and whatnot. Name it something better too, like Rejuvinating Potion

Drink Recipes:
I edited and add some feel free to ignore them or change their stats.
Life Potion:
Red Mushroom
Wheat
pork chop
Heals 5 hearts.
Adrenaline Potion:
String
Feather
Sugar
Give you 150% movement speed and you hit 150% more damage for one minute. Take 150% more damage though. Maybe withdrawl effects
Stone Skin Potion:
Iron Ingot
Bone
Smooth Stone
The next 3 hits you take do half damage. You have half movement speed though.
High Jump Potion:
Feather
Sapling
Wool
You have double jump height for two minutes. You take additional fall damage though.
Ale:
Sugar
Red Mushroom
Bonemeal
Heals 10 hearts, and gives you a drunk effect. You slip around like you're always on ice, and your vision is blurred. The more you consume the less it heals so the second ale would heal 8 and you will get more dizzy.
Posion:
Bonemeal
Brown Mushroom
Red Mushroom
you can use this to craft posion swords and arrows. For arrows: 1 posion potion will posion a whole stack of 64 arrows. You can also drink this and will damage you half a heart every second posion for 10 seconds. ( give it to you friends) Maybe able to mix into meat?
Sleep potion:
Wool
Feather
Bucket of water
Applie to mob to drug them for a half a day. Makes them able to fence and trap.
Un-flamble potion
Bucket of Lava
Sand
Bucket of Water
Makes you immune to fire and lava for 2 mintues.
and my last idea
Blast potions
Sulphur
Sulphur
Sulphur
Throw-able potion like snow balls that explode on impact. Much weaker then tnt and deal 5 heart dmg on a direct hit. Blast radius is also smaller and on impact will only destroy
No healing item should ever be stackable, it takes away the strategy of carefully selecting which items to place in your quick inventory.
Ingredient quantities would likely be too complex.
Taking additional fall damage is common sense, not a drawback. You logically will take more damage if you jump higher. Make it something like you take more damage, and call the potion Featherweight potion, so you jump higher but take more damage. Plus the name is better than" high jump potion"
Again, having a potion affect more than arrow in crafting seems complex because I doubt the system counts quantity, just one of each and then new item. Plus, what if I had 63 arrows? I can't use the potion?
If you planned to give it durability, usable 64 times, how do you make it affect the arrow? You can't place the arrow as an object.
The fire immunity potion is overpowered. Who would want to go through lava anyways? There's nothing there, its just meant to be an obstacle. You can't render it obsolete like that.
The explosion potion= grenade. We already have bows for ranged attack and tnt for explosion, we don't need a modern intermediate.

will thats true so cpoy paste and fix it :biggrin.gif: also for the arrows i was think 1 potion would aplly to all the arrows so if 64 all 64 would posioned and 63 all 63 would be posioned maybe i shuld just remove posion arrows.
