Many people might wish Seasons could be added to Minecraft in some sort of way, I have thought of how, hope u like it!
In the world select, their could be a separate tab for limited world with season, the map size would consist of either 9 maps or 18 maps or 27 maps. Each season could affect both player, mobs, entites, and environment
Spring
This is the first season the player starts on every new game, spring is when there would be many flowers and blossoms, their could even be a rare event called cherry blossom. When the trees turn pink. This is when the grass will be the brightest green, trees will grow well, and it will be the perfect time for growing crops and breeding animals. However, this is one of the seasons when monsters spawn the best, spring lasts for 20 days and 20 nights. Precipitation is average
Summer
This is when the days are the longest, u will know when it is summer when flowers despawn and the grass turn slightly less bright green. Nights will be shorter too. It still will be the perfect time to grow food and breed animals. But monsters still spawn very well. Summer last for 25 days and 25 nights. Precipitation is high
Autumn
When the tree leaves turn red, yellow, or orange, u might even notice some leaves despawning, you get equal day and night with spring too. Grass turn a little darker green. Growing food will still be possible, same for animals still spawning well, just not as much as the seasons said above, well maybe pumkins will grow well. Monster spawn rate decreases. Autumn has 18 days and 18 nights. Precipitation is average
Winter
"Tis the season to be jolly!" The grass become the ones like the tagia biome. The trees, animals spawn rate drops, on the first day of winter, it will start to flurry for a short time then everywhere will be snowed. Nights are longer, days have shortened, however, Monster spawn rate has dropped. It will be hard to grow food, u have to rely on potions, animals, already grown food, your food supply, or apples from trees, winter lasts for 16 days and 16 nights. Around the 14th night, if you sleep on the bed, theirs a 15% chance a chest will spawn besides your bed with a few gifts, sometimes valuable. After that another season cycle goes on
Other
•I was thinking there should be ambient sounds to support the seasons too like wind, birds, echoes, etc
•The only biome that will spawn in a seasonal world is the plains, the beach and ocean, and the forests.
•Player can still go to the nether and the end
•Maybe some music to support each season or at least for the winter season
•This could allow for fun creativity like winter festivals, spring get together, going to the beach for summer, who grew the most pumkins in autumn, etc
A white Christmas? Never experienced that. Don't forget us Southern Hemisphere legends.
What about the old Aussie Christmas season?
You can't walk on cobble, stone or dark blocks without lighting on fire
Having iron in your inventory or any iron/metal block ie hoppers, iron blocks, cause both fire damage on contact and light other things on fire!
Spiders and cockroaches quadruple in spawn rate and size
In all seriousness, I like the idea. But I think this would work best as an option, toggle able at world generation. This will allow regular play aswell as enhanced seasons.

Seasons should just be a beneficial/aesthetic thing. From what the idea gives, winter is gonna come around and just make the game really unfun. Not everyone wants their crops to be slowed and their terrain just covered in snow. We would have to change up our playstyles just because Mojang added a trollish winter.
Don't think I'd want Minecraft to turn into Don't Starve.

You want a separate tab with finite worlds and seasons. Yet you say that all world start in Spring.
This suggestion is a bit pointless. There was an entire update about making the world as infinite as possible and one of the developers wanted to make seasons but couldn't for some reason.
It's a challenge, in the same way hardcore mode was added.
No.
You comparing this to hardcore mode is a comparison that doesn't work in the absolute slightest. We have the choice of playing hardcore mode, while winter just comes whether we like it or not and impedes the flow of gameplay.
An unavoidable thing that impedes gameplay doesn't translate seamlessly into "yup, a challenge!" This is why we have our hunger bars deplete faster while in deserts or get an annoying "chilled" status effect when walking into taiga biomes. Would that makes sense? Yes. Is it fun? No. My acres of land being covered in snow ain't a challenge.
And by the logic of the idea, crops should also be slowed when planted in cold biomes, but would still be a bad idea because now you got a nerfed biome compared to others.

What is precipitation in Minecraft?
Why does this need to be a generated map? This is way to big to be an option.
Oh come on, even if you reduced crops growth in winter by a factor of ten, you'd still get more than enough even without a reserve! This is just to show how food grows ridiculously fast in vanilla. In vanilla I haven't even had time to finish harvesting my pumpkins that there are ALREADY several new ones that have regrown right behind my back ! And it's not a 200 pumpkins farm either, only 25 ! Some times it almost feels like playing whack-a-mole. I wouldn't mind having a season where crops actually STAY harvested at least for a little bit before growing back.
I would like to add seasons but this doesn't seem like the best way to me. Maybe there could be shorter seasons, and it would not snow everywhere in Winter.

This is all true, but with that logic, wouldn't it be better to tweak some crop growth period instead of doing a season thing? I suppose slower crop growth wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't outlandishly slow.

This is all true, but with that logic, wouldn't it be better to tweak some crop growth period instead of doing a season thing? I suppose slower crop growth wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't outlandishly slow.
Exactly !
Currently crops growth is this way: Ludicrous speed hyperdrive, all the time.
It should be this way:
- Winter: Slow growth. NOT abysmally slow though: it is possible to survive. But you will face starving repeatedly if you combine ALL the following conditions:
- No food reserve
- Small farm, or medium farm that you don't harvest daily
- Don't focus mainly on improving your food situation
Basically, a noticeable "fraction of day spent only on food" thing but almost totally ignored if you have winter reserves in advance. If you have a big farm, you can farm all day an still get a nice net surplus.
- Spring: Good growth. You can farm and get a nice little surplus easily without spending too much time of your day on that task.
- Summer: Quick growth. Easy to quickly farm and get a big surplus, best time to painlesly make reserves for next winter.
- Autumn: Ok growth. You can farm and get a surplus, but you have to spend more time on it, and if you have no food reserves then a tiny farm is probably not enough.
In other words:
Current vanilla growth speed = 100% which is ridiculously fast
Summer growth speed would be 50% of current vanilla in other words still very fast
Spring would be 25% of current vanilla in other words still be quite good.
Autumn would be 12.5% of current vanilla, in other it would be ok.
Winter would be 6.25% of current vanilla, in other words a little bit too slow It's either make reserves or a big farm, or just get other source as of food.
Really? Ever heard of the thread called Please read THIS before making a suggestion? I think you just said a excuse to defend your suggestion and it will not work.
"And while were at it, lets make the OP feel ashamed of him/herself for using a lazy excuse!" The OP should be able to learn how to make a proper suggestion WITHOUT all of the insults, harassment, and humiliation. So anyone that tells other people to read that thread is like telling them that they deserve all of the harassment and humiliation, and that they don't deserve to come back. It is also bad enough that the Moderators and Admins couldn't care less about the people that have already been offended by that thread.
*plants a sign saying "read this!" with an arrow pointing toward the suggestion guide*
One again, the OP should be able to learn how to make a proper suggestion WITHOUT all of the harassment and humiliation. And that suggestion guide is LOADED with lots of insults.
I hate this idea. BUT, then I realize I love it. I went from my first impression, ugh, another seasons suggestion? And am I gonna have to report this as a wishlist? Why is finite worlds thrown in? And, doesn't h realize how screwed up that would make the biome system? To my current impression of, OHHHHH. It's finite so that it's ONE biome. And t change the seasons it makes use of all the current biomes; and the one becomes all of those. Using the biomes to simulate seasons. It's actually an incredibly interesting way to do it. The only problem: world generation. What biome would you have it SHAPED like? And or would you have it large enough for a couple differently shaped areas and such? I really like the ingenuity.
One again, the OP should be able to learn how to make a proper suggestion WITHOUT all of the harassment and humiliation. And that suggestion guide is LOADED with lots of insults.
I'm glad to be the one to inform you, we officially redid the guide! Badprenup took notice of, well basically exactly what you're saying. The guide simply discouraged certain actions, rather than suggesting new ones. The new guide is also set in a much better tone, as it was a collaboration and that was one of the main things that we tried to change. I can proudly say I worked on it myself (as Badprenup stated; he doesn't expect people to read the guide before their first suggestion, even though he wishes they would, but hopes the guide can be used as something for people to point other people to, to show them some solutions to problems they were having) I personally hated the excuses section, because people basically used the fact that the author used some vague excuse as a reason for hating on suggestions. It is not a much lesser section (while it still exists), and I believe that the excuses are more realistic now. Check it out! Say any problems you see! The group is still set up, it is still open to be changed. If you feel very strongly about it, you could even be added to the group yourself. I hope this was helpful and informative

Pokémon series (HGSS forever)
Rocket League
Fallout series
Left 4 Dead 2 (Boomer files always corrupt though)
SUPERHOT (SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!)
Dead Rising series (Dead Rising 2 is one of my favorite games, and the 3rd was a lot of fun. 1st has poor survivor AI and the 4th is bad)
