Hello Guys! This is my Idea:
So, you all (probably) know the weird Block inside a beacon.
BUT: What if you want to change it?
My suggestion is that under all those Effects, there should be a button: 'Change inner Block'. There also is a small bar for you to put said block in. When you take it out, it will turn back to default beacon look. If you put another block in, it will change to that block. If you destroy it while an item, for example , dirt, is in it, you will get the (dirt) block with the beacon. The light won't be affected by the color of the block inside of it.

EDIT: I also think the 'block' that is normally in the beacon should be it's own block...
Agreed. This would mostly be for mapmakers, so having it be available through commands would make more sense.
I could see this being used in non-map maker scenarios, such as maybe something like this..
I find having blocks displayed in a glass encasing surprisingly delightful, and looks really neat.
Of course, using a beacon for purely decoration in survival would be a huge waste (And beacons are extremely hard to get)
Maybe it could be a new item with crafting similar to a beacon, but something to replace obsidian and the nether star...
I'm just thinking of random things now.. I do see your guy's point in a NBT tag, though I feel it should be more easily accessed as it makes a really great decoration..

i agree. They ARE hard to get, but who knows... i once killed the enderdragon for a 4x4 shrine...
lol, i do this stuff to see how ppl get along with them, and to test my ideas. I guess you guys are preetty nice, sooo.....
The people who are praising this have no idea that a resource pack can do the exact same thing, apparently.
True, but we could want two or more beacons, each one with a different block.
There's also the blocks with more than one texture, like furnaces and bookshelves. And the ones with different models.

Motto: Close your eyes and mine, someday you'll find the diamond..
Why? This seems utterly pointless. No support.

Motto: Close your eyes and mine, someday you'll find the diamond..
What?
i'm writing down who and how many people say yes or no to this suggestion.
Motto: Close your eyes and mine, someday you'll find the diamond..
So... Something like this?
(I made quickly via command block to see how this would look)
I kinda like the idea, I don't see much wrong with it, really.
EXYCTLY!!! could i use this picture in this thread? i will credit you.
Motto: Close your eyes and mine, someday you'll find the diamond..
Sure, why not.
I think this would make more sense if it was an NBT tag
soo, is this a support or no support?
Motto: Close your eyes and mine, someday you'll find the diamond..
again, support or no support?
Motto: Close your eyes and mine, someday you'll find the diamond..
Support, why not? It could be useful for decoration.
Thank you

Being a map maker, I like this idea, it's just an extra creativity feature

I can see this being used.
I'm almost completely inactive, in case you're trawling through really old threads and notice me somewhere.
thanks
