I've got a suggestion before finalizing the difficulty curve of update 1.9:
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE 1.9, until you get to the End.
Here are some recorded problems with endgame that could use some looking into:
Endermen are a bit too easy to aggro, and hard to attack effectively when grouped up on the player.
The End is a bit too sparse with its dungeons, a simple increase in frequency will allow for less wandering and probable death.
Some gaps between islands are way too huge to traverse with ender pearls. (one time I was even marooned on a single island without any ability to get to another island)
Elytra are not worth the risk of inventory loss on death.
The End seems to still be circled around a higher-frequency attack system. (eg. Enderman ganging)
In other words: When a player enters the end, S**t hits the fan.
I don't know, enderman are pretty easy to counter (pumpkins) and the ender dragon is usually in the sky so you won't look at them that often unless you look back at the ground.
Shulkers are pretty interesting, but you can use the structures they spawn with to hide and pretty much negate the effect they give you. The elytra makes exploring the islands a breeze, especially when coupled with ender pearls.
The only thing might be the ships which if you have bad aim... Yeah. (But you can also throw an enderpearl at the ground before hitting it to reduce fall damage I believe.) though from experience the building is usually taller than how high the ship is, so you'll have a good angle.
So yes, the end is pretty difficult, but considering its pretty much endgame (enchanted diamond armor as loot...?) I feel the difficulty is justified..... Except falling into the void = losing all loot, but thats probably more just me.
While I get your point, I think it would be more prudent to make a thread describing ideas on how to improve these areas. However, the list is a good start on doing so, because it defines the 'what' behind the problem(s).
Cheers!

What are you looking at?
So, is this a rant, or a suggestion?
Suggestive rant
(a suggestion while being backed up with rant-able problems)
soooo... yeah a suggestion.
What are you looking at?
I'm pretty sure it's a rant. What is the suggestion?
Before 1.9 is finalized, that some checks are made to equalize the difficulty spike when traversing the end.
...or is that not a suggestion?
What are you looking at?
You're really not suggesting anything. You're listing things you don't like but not describing how you would improve the issues you've listed.
...ok yeah i can see it.
I've made some changes to make it more suggest-y
What are you looking at?
Could you elaborate on this?

The majority of your problems either stem from taking on the End unprepared, or are too vague.

It's very dangeross to piller across the end

> Reduced gravity on the End (for all entities) by 1/2
> Elytra can now apply an ascending force, that will be counteracted by Overworld gravity but not End gravity.
Fixed?
