Rose Red + Dandelion Yellow already make Orange Dye . Why not rename it to Pumpkin Orange (in keeping with the pattern of naming dyes after items in the game) AND let pumpkins be cooked into dye as a secondary route to the color. This gives them another use besides jack-o-lanterns. This may require a palette tweak just so that the current orange dye and the color of the pumpkins are the same shade.
Similarly, we can get slimeballs from slimes but they have no use at all. So, make Slimeball Green dye. (Get it? sLIMEball Green?) There's already a recipe for Lime Dye from Cactus Green + Bone Meal [] . Rename it and add crafting slimeballs as an additional route to produce the dye. Same bit about the palette tweak applies too.
Might should rename Bone Meal to Bone Meal White too.
I'm sorry, but no. Just no. If you cooked pumpkins, I would rather it gave me PIE (hey, that's not too bad an idea!). Slimeballs I'd rather craft into slime blocks that function like a combination of water and soul sand.
Neat idea about the slimeblocks. But I doubt Notch will add two blocks that have the same function.
And I want pumpkin pie or a pumpkin roll too. So, how about a compromise - an intermediate step - and get both.
Cook pumpkin in a furnace to produce pumpkin mash/filling/pulp/fruit whatever. This can be used directly as the dye. (Similarly, Bone Meal isn't called a dye and has no color in its name.) Then you can use the pumpkin material in a crafting recipe like a cake.

You could put a cooked porkchop in the crafting grid and it gives you bloodmeal. And can craft dark red cloth. Or, as I like to call it, porkgundy!
Protip for the community: Stop spewing stupid ideas out of your freakish desperation to give slimeballs a use.
