Are you tired of having the same looking Jackolatern? Well with this suggestion being added, you can have lots of kinds of jackolaterns/pumpkins!
Here are some of the design ideas I came up with (not supposed to be a wish list, I put it in this order so you can clearly see the ideas)
Cat
The Moon
Shapes (Triangles, Squares, Circles)
Skull
A few different faces
Mojang Logo (I don't know if it would be added due to Microsoft owning it now, but it's just an idea)
Diamond
A steve figure
Wolf
Creeper Face
Those are just some random ideas I came up with on the top of my mind, if you have more ideas just let me know. To craft these it's like crafting banners, you take a pumpkin and put it in the center, then add the items necessary. Also on crafting, it works like buckets, you get the item back, you just need the item in the first place. The only exception is the pumpkin, when you place the pumpkin it disappears from your inventory (like any other normal item.)

I like it. However, one idea I may add is to have it function similar to banners. As in, you can place any item alongside a normal pumpkin in the crafting table, and the pumpkin will appear with the pattern of what item you put in with it.
More designs are always welcome, perhaps they could also follow the same kinds of items used in Banners as well. As for coloured lighting, that seems a little too much.

thanks! I decided color lighting for map makers in general. It could be used to give a radiant light but I respect your opinion. I do think having the same patterns as banners would be could, except that with my designs plus banner designs, it would be hard to fit them all in. Again thanks for supporting!
I think this is a great idea. While I was reading this, I thought that maybe you could implement something where you can carve your own designs. For instance, if someone didn't want the design, they could alter it, and make something new. Oh, and here are some designs I think would work well:
-Creeper Face
-Wolf
-Crafting Table
-Player Heads
By player heads, I mean you can carve the face of your Minecraft skin. Just an idea.
I feel like this is a very viable idea that could make it's way into 2.0 if a member of Mojang sees it; they don't stop by often enough, there's so many great ideas that just drift away into the abyss of page 2; many dare to venture, but very few return.
I think it would be good to replace the pattern item with flint instead of dye, and remove the colouration and coloured lighting all together.
The colored lighting part feels redundant. It probably is.
Anyways, I like different designs, but shouldn't these recipes involve a sword of something?
And I am pretty sure that Microsoft owns Mojang, but Mojang has complete control over Minecraft. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Good suggestion. However, you should be able to design it like a banner. Player heads of actual players (not just Steve) should be able to be added to the pumpkin so you can carve your skin's face.

the thing about the crafting table, is it will look like a square in the pumpkin (I imagine it being like a silhouette, so it would be a square) Wolf and creeper face are really good ideas! (Don't know how I never thought of creeper face) I don't understand the player heads part, I don't think the game would recognize where and what your eyes look like, so that might be difficult (if that's what you mean by carve the face of your minecraft skin) Thanks for your opinion!

Adding multiple colours means adding multiple variants of the same block to the creative menu, Minecraft only holds 16 different variants of blocks from 0 - 15, adding different shades (faded and deep) of each colour would push that up to 0 - 31, which I'm not sure Minecraft can do; I think I read somewhere that it can only do 16.
The best alternative I can suggest is to add a recipe for jack 'o lanterns with redstone torches, giving it a bright red texture and only a max light level of 7 I believe.

those of you wondering why i don't have an active RP (so far none). i try. but whenever i get to the rules section of it my computer restarts. computer: i realise what your telling me and i give up.
Having new cutouts is a good idea, but some of those designs would be way too expensive. I don't know if I'd ever use up a diamond or golden apple for something like that.

Adding multiple colours means adding multiple variants of the same block to the creative menu, Minecraft only holds 16 different variants of blocks from 0 - 15, adding different shades (faded and deep) of each colour would push that up to 0 - 31, which I'm not sure Minecraft can do; I think I read somewhere that it can only do 16.
The best alternative I can suggest is to add a recipe for jack 'o lanterns with redstone torches, giving it a bright red texture and only a max light level of 7 I believe.
