Oh! How come I've never seen this before? I've always wanted to have gloves and stuff in Minecraft, and the Dual Wielding provides a good way to do that
One of the things that does put me off though is that the gloves aren't worn, they are held. Normally, you can hold other things while wearing gloves, but you can only use your hands as a weapon if they are empty. If there was a way to do this, I would love it
As it is, I still party support, simply because this is a good way to do it at the moment.
I thought about adding an armor slot for these but decided against it because:
It requires a whole new inventory slot
It uses tool/weapon tiers, not armor tiers
Using those slots would imply armor values on them, which I didn't want because armor is strong enough as it is. It would be confusing for the user. It would also imply they take damage from being hit, which makes them much less useful than other weapons.
While you can hold things in gauntlets or gloves made for fighting, it isn't exactly easy.
But then again, it would be easier to use. Change the recipe to 2 of the tier items and give it a slot. But I don't know about that. I'll still consider it though.

This won't work. I'm sorry, but this will make things like swords useless, since diamond swords have a DPS of only 11.2, and spam clicking is a lot easier than timing your hits, and part of the point of the combat update was to get rid of the hellishly easy combat mechanics. Maybe this would be a good mod.

DPS of 11.2, plus you get a shield/potion/pearl/other offhand item?

I mean you are entitled to your opinion, but something tells me you misunderstood. This isn't a spammable weapon, it requires even more strict timing than a sword to use well. If you spam you would do basically no damage because your cool down for the item hasn't reset.

honestly there is no point to adding a new weapon, instead shears can serve as the spam click weapon
Uh dude, what is with your deep want for shears to be a weapon? That's an idea that's been well debunked. It's just weird that you suddenly brought that up.
Anyway, I just don't see any sense in a new weapon. It just feels redundant at this point. If we didn't have potions and enchantments, I'd consider this. Sorry, no support.

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.
If you punch an opponent with a Glove in your Hotbar (Left Click), then during their Invincibility period you hit them with the Glove in your Off Hand (Right Click), your second attack will hit them even though they should be immune to damage because you just hit them. In addition, the second attack does a LOT more damage. Here is the damage chart:
Restrictions
The target is still immune during their invincibility frames to all other damage. You cannot hit a target with a different weapon and follow up with the attack with Gloves during the invincibility period or vice versa. The only way to hit them during the invincibility period is by getting the initial hit with the Glove in one of your hands and then hitting them with the Glove in your other hand while they are invincible to everything else.
So the ideal strategy is to punch them with one hand, immediately follow it with a punch from your other hand, then wait until the invincibility frames end and repeat, hence the phrase “hit em with the old one-two”. You want to get into a pattern of left click, right click, pause for invincibility frames to finish, repeat. If you go too slow your DPS lowers, but if you go too fast (left click, right click, then left click without waiting for the invincibility frames to finish), your second left click attack will do nothing and it will throw off your pattern, severely screwing up your DPS. These have the potential to be the strongest weapons in the game in terms of DPS, but only if you really take the time to master the attack pattern.
Enchantments
As you have to make 2 of these weapons to get the full use of them, you can enchant both of them separately. And because your second attack in a combo is more powerful, it means you would want different enchantments for each one. They have a couple of unique enchantments, but have the same general enchantments as Swords:
Beatdown (1 Level) - If the opponent’s strength meter is replenishing (meaning they just changed weapons or attacked), this makes it take 10% longer to recharge. It isn’t a lot, but it can throw off your enemy’s attack pattern and it throws a wrench into the plans of anyone using an auto-clicker timed to give them perfect attacks with no delay.
Uppercut (2 Levels) - Causes vertical Knockback, knocking the target 1 block into the air per level. This is especially useful on if you put this on the hand you attack with first, then put Knockback on the other hand. You use Uppercut to hit them up into the air and use the additional height combined with Knockback to push them extra far away.
To prevent Uppercut abuse, when a player is hit with Uppercut they get an invisible debuff that lasts until they land again. During this debuff they cannot be hit by another Uppercut enchantment (to prevent juggling), and they cannot do a melee critical hit.
If there is anything you would like to change or add, feel free.
80% Support, this is actually a really good concept, however... I think the weapon would be more useful like this:
I liked everything about the idea, except for the fact that the first hit doesn't do hardly any damage. I personally think if both hits deal around the same damage, this weapon would be more effective, but I feel like everything else is well balanced.
- I'd rather them be made with Leather somewhere; I really don't like that crafting recipe because Sticks have nothing to do with gloves.
- Leather Gloves would be nice to have too as a dye-able variant (If it's Leather, I'm okay with it being called a Glove).
- Beatdown is only beneficial in PVP situations, which excludes survival players completely, unless, somehow, you find a way to incorporate this into mob attacks as well. By the way, the effect you've described as the result of being hit with this enchantment sounds an awful lot like "Mining Fatigue".
- This is redundant due to swords already taking the spotlight as the dedicated killing tool. The other tools get away with it because they have secondary roles whereas this does not. There can only be one!
- I feel as if they should have less DPS than swords, but also provide the wearer with additional armour points, as their secondary role. Protection enchantments included. You'd be on par with sword users, but in a different (tankish) way.
2 cents to you. Nice suggestion, by the way. You have little of my support currently.

That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard, I can see someone punching the other, I can't see somebody rapidly cutting another guy though.
