Here's a suggestion that I've wanted to make for a while. I like minecraft and all, but the mining just doesn't do it for me. Building, great. Lots of materials for that. Farming, great, although it does need a few enhancements. Overworld and the Nether would be perfect if the two most looked at suggestions get implemented (yes, I'm talking about nether upgrade and the Aether suggestion). And then we take a look at mining and we see that you've really only got three things to mine for- gold, iron, and diamonds. And so I think it would be awesome if Notch were to create more ores. Please, remember that I know this has probably been done before, although not exactly the same- the thing is, all those threads have died. That's why we need this. Discuss.
V2 Update: YES STILL ABOVE 50%! BAHAHAA! Anyway will add the uranium ore Thingy soon. Just a picture update for now.
MORE ORES V1 SUGGESTION ADDS:
6 new ores and gems/ingots-
including bronze, copper, ruby, steel and more!
3 new armor sets- including bronze!
3 new tool sets- including emerald, ruby, and more!
One extremely hard to obtain item- steel!
8 new blocks- forge, steel, emerald and more!
Lots of new crafting recipes
And one extremely rare item used to create an extremely powerful item...
Read on to find out more!
ORES AND GEMS-
Emerald- Light green, very pretty. Used mainly as building blocks since the emerald armor set is very weak. Used to make- emerald armor, emerald block
Ruby- A dark red version of the diamond. It is mainly used as armor since it contains a hidden power that makes its armor extremely powerful. It also has a beautiful block. Used to make- ruby armor, ruby block
Topaz- an extremely interesting gem. It is not used to create anything in an ordinary way; instead, a gold tool or weapon or armor piece is placed in the top right and a topaz is placed in the bottom left (2x2 grid). This then enhances their powers (more on that later). Used to make- topaz block, powered tools.
Bronze- bronze is an ingot, bot a gem. It is smelted as an ore to create Bronze ingots. Its items are medium strength, but bronze has an extremely important application. Used to make bronze tools, bronze block, steel.
Copper- basically useless except for a possible application as coins, and a special application. I've included this and have a poll up- should copper be used as coins? It makes a pretty block. Used to make- copper block, copper coins, steel.
Silver- silver is an extremely pretty metal, when it is smelted into an ingot. It is the counterpart of copper, as copper is cents, silver is dollars. Used to make silver blocks, silver coins.
Steel- this is the only section I could put this, so here it is. Steel is interesting and, just like floating sand, it breaks all the rules of physics and geology. Using the new block- the forge- you can mix copper and bronze to (somehow) create steel. Steel makes the best tools so far.
CREATABLE ITEMS
USING GRID
All tools and armors- as expected
Copper coins, silver coins- Arrange ingots in a 3x3 square with the centre cut out
Powered items- Using 2x2, put gold tool or weapon or armor piece in the top right and topaz in the bottom left.
Forge- Put Iron in a square with the centre cut out and put Glowstone in the centre.
USING FORGE
Steel- Put Copper and Bronze in the forge.
ARMOR
Emerald: Strength- between iron and diamond
Ruby: between emerald and diamond
Topaz: between iron and emerald; also has the power to electrocute anyone who attacks you!
TOOLS
Bronze- strength and durability between stone and iron
Topaz- strength and durability between bronze and iron. Also has special abilities as follows:
Pickaxe- double speed when breaking all ores
Sword- double damage to monsters
Hoe- double speed when hoeing land
Shovel- freezes sand and gravel when used on them
Axe- double speed when breaking wood products
Steel- strength of diamond, with double it's durability, making it nearly indestructible!
FIN- I thunk I got everything I listed and I know it's probably hard to understand I'll fix it up soon, I just wanted to get this out there. Please comment or at least give feedback... Discuss!
Anyway that's from left to right:
TOP ROW: Emerald, Ruby, Topaz
BOTTOM ROW: Silver, Copper
Will add a picture of gems soon- I hope to get a poster done by our
Most regular poster, but I haven't gotten a reply... I'm gonna do gems myself tho
Please discuss.
THANKYOU!!! You work so quickly seriously...
Anyway I like them all I'm gonna put them on the op if it's ok with you
And I'm gonna add tin and change the alloys to what you said with the next update- which will also include your ore idea :biggrin.gif: if it's ok with you
I would love to add pitchblende ore just to get that awesome glass- I need a better use for refined uranium than a nuke though because that just doesn't fit in with minecraft...
Eg "Mmhmm. Lemme mine some materials with my PICKAXE and SHOVEL. I founder a SKELETON ARCHER who shot me with his BOW. I killed him with my SWORD. Then I built a NUKE and blew up the world."
From top left clockwise: Emerald, Ruby, Topaz, Copper, Silver. I'm not particularly proud of Topaz or Copper, but the other three I like.
Bronze and Steel? Well, for Bronze (since it is a human-made alloy, not from an ore), craft together copper and tin.
For Steel, craft together and (or charcoal; anything mostly carbon).
Anyway I'm gonna wait a while before bumping this again, although it will be hard to resist... I promise I will wait at least a day. Also, I have school during the weekdays so I will be on once a day Monday-Friday to check all my posts... Don't miss me if I disappear :biggrin.gif:
Errr... When I suggested silver, it was A LOT more powerful then just a "counterpart to copper." Silver should have some kind of use in SSP, like what I suggested ON THE OTHER MORE ORES THREAD! It should at least deal more damage to skeletons and zombies (and werewolves if they get added), mine at the same speed of an iron pickaxe (but with less durability), and the axe I'm not sure about... Shovel should probably have a higher chance of getting flint (when used on gravel), and a small chance of getting sandstone from sand.
SPOILER: Version 3 coming soon, a huge update, featuring new methods of making bronze and steel, new alloys, new gems, a specific property for silver, pictures, signature banner and a poster. And one ultimate item which is completely useless... Or is it? Have fun trying to figure out what this is, keep discussing the topic, and keep those suggestions coming!
I like the idea, although steel being more durable than diamond seems like overkill, please correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't diamonds harder than steel?
I like the idea, although steel being more durable than diamond seems like overkill, please correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't diamonds harder than steel?
You are 100% right. If Steel is implemented, diamond will have to be one step more powerful than it currently, and Steel replaces our current diamond.
Will change in V3. However I gotta mention that it will be more durable than diamond. Diamond may be the hardest substance on earth, but it's actually very brittle and would break easily. I don't want to change diamonds durability coz I love diamond tools but steel will have a better durability than diamond.
New spoiler for V3-working hard to get this to you by Saturday, thus is seriously big, pictures might not be ready by Saturday unfortunately. New version will include contents page, a better layout, new poll, a harmful ore, a helpful item, and the imbued items- that's right, create stronger items using the socketer block! All this and more to come in V3!
And I have one more thing to say- this isn't just about ores anymore. Be prepared for the horrors of the night!

Also, would you be able to make me a picture for some other ores? Just the ores, mind, not anything else- this is just coz I love that picture...
And does anyone know someone who can make me a banner?
Mod this idea... Hopefully I get more of a response to this though.

Which word doesnt fit? I winder....
This would be awesome.
Also, do YOU know how to make a banner?
I Like the emerald most(because it's green)
Thanks guys.

- bonemeal
= silver
bucket of water
Not the best crafting recipe. But all I can think of.
