One Way glass is as the title suggests, a player can only see through it from one side, the other side is opaque. For an example think about the one sided glass of an interrogation room. Same thing.
How to Craft: Four panes of glass in square formation.
The look of One Way Glass: The non-transparent side of One Way Glass will look like black tinted windows, while the transparent side will look the same as regular glass, only with less of the shimmer that distract the players view.
Placing One Way Glass: When placed, the side facing the player will be the transparent side.
Harvesting: Can only be done using a pickax enchanted with Silk Touch.
Now the really cool part:
1. One Way Glass can be placed as a roof, unlike regular panes of glass.
2. Players on the non-transparent side of the glass will not be able to see the name of the player standing on the transparent side.
3. The same will apply with mobs! Mobs will not detect a player while they are behind the glass.

I love this suggestion. it has to be the best suggestion I've ever read. I've always wanted to build an underground bunker where no one could find me, and this idea provides that for me. BRILLIANT! Thank you, Squidy!
100% SUPPORT!
btw everyone, i really only corrected Squidy's English and grammar, the idea is all Squidy's.

Brilliant, I'm really loving the support here! I'm sure Squidy will too when gets back online! Squidy is pretty busy so has given me permission to reply to the feedback. Lookn Good!
I like this idea! However, I'd just like to point out mobs already don't see players through glass. Or any transparent block for that matter. Even like grass and stuff.
Either way, Support!

One of the side is transparent, the other side is opaque.
Like normal glass, of course you can suffocate in it...
You cannot suffocate in transparent blocks. Transparent blocks are not necessarily blocks with transparent textures. Glowstone is treated as transparent, even though you cannot see through it, therefore you can't suffocate in glowstone. You cannot suffocate in glass, any non-full block, glowstone, leaves, stained glass. Also, item physics fail inside of these blocks and that is why they are used for item elevators.
The texture is one thing, but the way game treats one block is different. Barriers are treated as opaque as any other block, even though their texture is transparent.

You could set up some really interesting multiplayer traps or contraptions with one-way class. You have my full support!
Just the fact you brought up interrogation rooms make me think how good this would be in roleplay. Support.
Edit 1: Added a poll!
