Bats are tiny litle mobs with 2 hearts and spawn only in caves and when you kill them,they only give a bit of xp.Now they way to add a use to the bat is by this,giving him a drop
The drop would be a custom item called "bat eye"
What does the bat eye do?The bat eye it's self doesn't do anything,but the bat eye when combined with 2 bat eyes and a rope,you can wear it as a helmet and enables you to extend your vision 35%,and dark is 30% brighter.
But this item does not give armor points.
Bat eye in general,is a weaker but cheaper night vision potion.It does not give complete night vision,it only gives 30% more brightness and extends your vision by 35%.
Despite the idea, I would prefer Bats to have no use, because they're atmospheric mobs, they don't need a use to be deemed useful. They're only there to add atmosphere. The idea itself isn't that bad, but not as useful as a Night Vision potion. While it can sometimes be helpful before having access to a Night Vision, it feels like something that could maybe beat the Night Vision due to how cheap it is and it's long lasting use.
I like the idea, but frankly minecraft needs more mobs to simply be astheticslly pleasing. Bats are really the only one, and I'm fine keeping them that way. As the only mob of its kind, I like that it's a tiny little cave dweller, who rarely pops up to greet miners. Bats as they are make me happy, so I see no need to change them.

What's so graphic about it? We have Spider Eyes in Minecraft, and no one seems as angered or disgusted about it. So what difference does it make?
People tend to be more disturbed by violence against mammals than arachnids and insects, since mammals are more closely related to us, and have more traits that resemble human behavior.
There is also the fact this would have you wearing the torn out eyeballs of a bat strapped to your face... Bit different from turning it into a liquid.
I'm going to say NO SUPPORT on behalf of bats using echolocation more than they use their eyes.

I think this is a little senseless, though there are bats that can see, ones that use echolocation have very poor sight, so you wouldn't think a bat eye would be helpful. Wearing bat eyes is weird even by Minecraft standards. How does this "extend your vision", does it expand chunk render distance? I don't get that one.

I like the idea, but frankly minecraft needs more mobs to simply be astheticslly pleasing. Bats are really the only one, and I'm fine keeping them that way. As the only mob of its kind, I like that it's a tiny little cave dweller, who rarely pops up to greet miners. Bats as they are make me happy, so I see no need to change them.
