Lightning rods are craftable rods used for attracting lightning in a 5 by 5 area. This will work best if you want to get charged creepers or just as a cool decoration. Lightning rods are 4 blocks tall and 1 block wide. They are crafted with one iron bar,one redstone dust, and three blocks of smooth stone. The three blocks of smooth stone go on the bottom three spaces of the crafting interface. The iron bar goes in the very middle, and the redstone goes on the top middle block.
Lightning rods make lightning to not cause damage to your world so you can safely add one to the top of your house without the fear of it burning down. This is great for creating witches and charged creepers. It attracts (Forces it to spawn in a 5 x 5 area for 40 blocks around. There is a chance of 1-3 bolts of lightning spawning every 10 ticks with it.
I like this idea. But I think the End Rods from 1.9 should have this purpose instead of Lightning Rods. And You should add this to the OP "This will work best if you want to get Charged Creepers, Witches or Zombie Pigmen" since lightning transforms Villagers into Witches and Pigs into Zombie Pigmen.
A good idea, but is there a set chance or timer that this rod will attract the lightning? Or does it just make nearby lightning go to the rod instead? Or both?

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.
Seems kind of useless to me. I mean, lighting is very unlikely to set anything on fire with all the rain, and then there's the fact that lighting storms hardly ever happen, plus the fact that it is extremely unlikely to hit a reasonably large (or small) structure (ie. an early-to-mid-game house). I don't think the chances for lighting to hit a 5x5 area where you plan to put this thing are in your favor.
No support.
Although, it would be cool if it forced lighting to hit there during a storm...
If there is some way to control the lightning to hit a certain mob, that'd be awesome to have. Otherwise I guess I support, but I hardly see myself using it.

So basically, I'm stupid.

It does force lightning from a thunderstorm
