I once thought of boosters working by having the booster cart have a hook on the side that pulls the transported cart along. However,I can already see how these two concepts work together!

Yo dawg I heard you like playing Portal so now you can play Portal while playing Minecraft while going to Hell.
I love this idea and would love to see it implemented.
At least something, because I like how boosters work (I actually need to engineer my subway system). They aren't stifling innovation - it's cultivating it.
Does anyone know if they had magnets in medieval times, which i suppose this game is based in/on/around?
I mean, aside from redstone circuits and maybe other glaring omissions, would magnets fit with the theme notch is aiming for?
Yes, yes they did. They made compasses before Christ. They just used 'Load-stone' as they call it. But here is another magnetic rock named 'Magnetite'. The found it because it seemed to stick to thier shovels and hoes when digging.
I geuss that would be a good way to find magnets. Use and Iron shove so the magnetite/load-stone would stick to it.

It's hard waiting around for something that you know might never happen; but it's even harder to give up when you know it's everything you ever wanted.
All you have to do is make a new kind of block that works magnetically, and use it with minecarts just as one would with a furnace or chest. It solves all of the problems of the glitch, while making it easy to implement and adding new features. It doesn't even matter to me how it's implemented, as long as it's similar to the booster glitch we already have.

+ 1 for maglev. If you could reverse polarity, I would make some type of makeshift elevator system using redstone.

Minecraft updates. In 300 years, the living generation will be able to simulate our lives today through Minecraft! Of course, we're stuck in the 1800's for a while

dude... funniest thread i've ever read... right when it said ****ING MAGNETS i lol'd, and freaked out my roommate. i agree with this. perhaps redstone could be used to have magnets switch their polarity in a way that would pull the minecart foward?
Magnetic accelerator tracks make perfect sense to me. It doesn't replace the powered cart entirely, and it provides a great alternative to the accelerator "bug" so to speak.

Yes, I love the idea of reversing polarity.

Exactly.
I'm gonna sig that. Thanks.
Awesome idea.
Notch should see this ASAP.

Sums up this whole idea.
I think magnetic materials = good idea. Minecarts being magnetic... not so much. It would help the booster track recipe tho.
Yes, I love the idea of reversing polarity.
