So in ancient(ish) times, there were two kinds of witch-like people: Witches, who used witchcraft to get power, and Folk Healers, who used holiness and prayer to get theirs.
So I was thinking about how the Iron golems in villages always ware down and die from accumulated damage over time, I mean, the villagers were able to make them in the first place, why can't they upkeep them? So I saw a need, and filled a need.
The Folk Healer would resemble a priest villager, though they'd have blue eyes and slightly darker robes, and their pants (brown on all villagers) would be gray. The Folk Healer would, like a witch, throw potions, though most of it's potions would be positive buffs for it's team; Splash potions of healing both heal villagers, golems, and the player, and damage undead mobs, so it would heal it's own allies, especially fleeing villagers, while knocking back zombies.
However, as this is NOT a villager guard suggestion, they will not actively target enemy mobs with any potion capable of doing damage to them, only damaging them as a side effect of healing their allies. Folk Healers will target Villagers, golems, and players who have not killed a significant amount of villagers; Folk Healers will also use potions of healing, regeneration, and swiftness on themselves.
If you are proposing another villager type I think you need a few more fleshing out things covered. What would this new villager type want in trades? What would it offer in trades? If this villager type could throw healing potions how often could they throw them? Could they throw them in rapid secession or on a cool down timer? Would they target only fellow villagers or players too?
I don't particularly like the idea that this villager type has offensive abilities. Villagers have been presented as passive or helpless, and I think that is part of the intended challenge of maintaining a village and keeping them alive and healthy. Not to mention the complication brought in by more than one villager tossing splash potions and ending up killing nearly everyone in the village.
I can get behind the idea on another villager type; one who could toss out a splash healing potion onto iron golems every so often, but I think that would simplify and take away from the challenge of the game. That doesn't stop me from liking it though. I think the healing abilities would need to be really throttled back in order to keep this type from being over powered.
This won't work when the chunk where the healer is in isn't rendered. This means the healing will only take place when the player is present nearby.

Or you could just have them blow up.
TL:DR:
Folk Healers are priests who throw potions of healing and regeneration at villagers and golems.

I think it would fit in quite well actually, I support!
Like the suggestion haven't heard another suggestion close to this idea. Also it's trades are potions I'm assuming right? Support
