Ok lets face currently pvp is a contest on who can break their mouse the fastest. For the few that believe otherwise a good triggerfinger doesnt meen you have skill. There is accually scientific documentation that shows how these fast repetetive finger movemets can affect the finger and keep it in a cureved position. Minecraft should change this. Instead it should promote a wiser system of play. Critical Effects are the the perfect fix. First the sword swings should now have a 0.5 second cooldown this will end the trigger finger dilema. Than comes the more technical part. Critical spots are areas the player hits in anouther player to apply more damage or knockback. (this update will take away or nerf the falling-while-attaking critical damage, its only being exploited in servers. (if enough people dislike this ill take this part away).These are all the critcal spots and effects when hit.
Head-- The head deals +2 health points (+1heart) added to the original damage. Good for when trying to take down someone quick and smoothly. probobly where you will be going for most of the time. Assualt
Torso-- The torso deals +1 health point (+half heart) added to the original damage, also does half a block of knockback. When fighting a large horde of players, a torso hit will shove them back by a bit. Guard
Hands-- The hands delay the enemies next sword swing by 0.3 second. Also the original damage. When fighting someone when you're low in armor, or he/she is high in damage. Bait
Feet-- The prevent walking for 0.5 second( you notice this is happening to you when your camera goes down one eighth of a block as if sneaking). Hitting the leg will lower the the damage by -1 health point (-half heart).Then trying to keep someone from getting close and damage is not a priorety. Scout
Back-- If you sneak for three seconds and then attack the back of a player the first hit will have +5 health points(+2 and a half hearts). good for taking down a very strong player that doesnt know is being followed. Assasin
this goes perfect with my hood thread check it out its balanced and useful.

Thanks to "Endbrine" for inspiration, If you run for 7 seconds than the first attack you do can have this add an effect if the critical-spot is hit.
Head-- blindness for 2 seconds
Torso-- nausea for 2 seconds

the battle will be over by the time the two second are up ,plus the person may go for the head multiple times reseting the blindness.But perhaps if the player is running for 3 seconds and does an attack and the attack hits the head or torso the extra effect is added. this may go in the Side-ggestion area
Exactlly thats why I made this suggestion. And if im not mistaken you just sayed Skill doesnt fit in minecraft. but spam clicking does.

Sorry, I just misunderstood something. Okay, just basically, I don't think we should have hit-boxes. It doesn't really fit. I think in some cases it could be cool, but it could also mess up some other things like mini games. So maybe have a server command to turn it off or something? I don't know. No support for now. I'm gonna wait and see what the update brings.
This would require MAJOR Reconstruction of Entity Code. Every single entity would require a re-coding to this new concept and would probably take an entire update's worth of coding to make it work properly. So, we would have to wait a LONG time for a new update. But, It would be nice.
