I am suggesting to be able to change the light color of any light source. It would also change the texture a bit. To dye a light source, you would simply throw dye on it. For example throwing Cactus Green on a block of Glowstone would turn the Glowstone green and turn its light color green. Black dye would do the opposite of give off light when thrown on a light source. Colored light would be great for decoration or Disco rooms.
I know you can change the beacon's beam color. But not the color of the other light it gives off.
Could definitely give building uniqueness with these colored lights. But, this could have to be rewritten with code, as V. Minecraft doesn't support colored light yet. But, time may tell.

Supported! This is a great idea because sometimes you just want to add a bit of red light to fully achieve that spooky feel, some grey light for a dark, foggy feel, or if you are bored you could just make a rainbow of colours! Sometimes I feel that Minecraft just needs more decorative elements.
We already have a taste of this with the beacons, but seeing this added to the other light sources would be very interesting, and a unique focal point for interior decorating.

Interesting suggestion, but I believe this was already achieved with Beacons. When you place stained glass atop a beacon's beam, it will change colour, and can even change tint if you add a variety of colours to it. I feel like we should keep this to Beacons for a while, but I do like this suggestion as well.

This can be done with colored glass.. can't it? Or is it just with beacons?
I don't know what you mean with the black light...It doesn't give off light? Then why have a light source there at all?..
Already suggested.

That was made about 3 years ago, and last mentioned last month...
When I searched it, all the threads were outdated. I didn't find any in 2015.
By black light I mean you can't see. It makes everything dark. The colored glass can only be done with beacons.
Doesn't make it a bad idea. Plus, that's a little bit different...
Anyway, I support this as I do any other colored light suggestion.

Then why have a "light" that makes everything dark? Though it could be used with beacons... hiding the pillar of light.
Maybe you want to hide your base on a factions server or just want to hide your base for fun.

This is a great idea for a bunch of creations, and other creations, ... you get the point. It would be useful.

I don't even play Minecraft much anymore yet here I am on the Minecraft forums for some reason...
So? Doesn't mean it's irrelevant.
That suggestion doesn't have to represent every other suggestion that is/was similar to it- was what i was trying to get at.
I need to start giving more info on stuff..
Yes, I think they part about throwing the dye would be very cool. Never said it was bad, all colored light suggestions are good.

Well, he said it needs rewriting, so there's still hope, right?
Anyway, the suggestion can still be left open for criticism, even if it's unachievable with the current lighting system.
